The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Just did an hour of disinfecting! An then I put the items away.

(I have germophobia so I have to disinfect a lot of what comes into the house. I hate doing it, so it piles up.)

Re: The magic of tidying

Thankyou for all this talk, I am feeling a lil inspired to tackle the clutter in my bedroom in particular.

it’s annoying trying to decide if I want to give stuff away on the buy nothing fb groups (and wait for others to pick stuff up etc), or just go straight to vinnies with them. And like what if I need stuff in the future.

im always so conflicted

started sorting kitchen table, like 5 trips to heater to throw paper with info on in it, pile for recycling, some got put away, some went in rubbish bag .. still looks a mess, just nowhere near as bad as it was lol @Dimity @_PixieSolstice_ @NatureLover @Oaktree @Shaz51

Hi guys,

This morning I have started tidying up surfaces. Putting things away and throwing out the rubbish. Hubby is going back to work starting today so whilst he is out I will get the floor swept and mopped. Big plans!

Hope it goes okay @Oaktree no energy here, but few bin trips , floor not looking good around benchtops, did dishes though, think trip to recycling bin next and spot clean floor for bonus points lol
