Treatment order

Treatment order

Hi there everyone,

I'm new to this site, lm a mother of a beautiful boy who has struggled with schizophrenia for the past very hard 3years (since he was 19). On Friday his mental health worker issued a treatment order and the police and ambulance took him to hospital Friday night. He is so tormented by these voices and belief we were poisoning him honestly there's so much l couldn't write it all down. He was up and down with his meds however the last 8 weeks had been given meds via injection which doesn't seem to of helped his last dose last Monday they doubled the dose and the voices were relentless 2 days he didn't sleep become very aggressive, desperate and couldn't get a rest from the voices etc. I know this was nessasary and l understand why but l am so so very fearful of what happens from here? Will he ever be free from this or at least find a way to survive it and live a normal life? Can anyone share with me there story and any advice?? It's been hell living with this no sleep or waking to him in the roof because someone has put cameras in the roof, every mark on the wall was a conspiracy etc my poor boy its just heartbreaking and there's absolutely nothing l can do, or is there?? Thankyou for taking the time to read my post. I honestly don't know what to expect or what happens from here.

That Must be heartbreaking.

I don't have a huge amount to share in terms of solutions. But, having been that guy in the ambulance myself a couple of times (thankfully quite some time ago)...all I can say is, please, don't give up loving your son and trying to get him as well as he can be.

My parents' love was huge in saving me. Which I feel almost guilty about, because I know it's not the same for all...

Self Care, especially after the exhaustion period. Gently Bently with you and your boy is my best advice. Stay true to your love for him, but many of the choices are difficult.

You are not completely alone. It is the most terrible struggle and despairing thiing for a mum to witness. If you type into the search box and go through the threads you may see stories that resonate and give hope. When we were going through that kind of thing. I researched, researched and visited prayed and hoped.

Warm regards

Re: Treatment order

Hi @Mumslove

I would like to welcome you to the forum - I am very glad you have reached out to us

I had a very troubled son, the circumstances were different - still - although I can't possibly know how you feel I do know the despair you must be feeling - and what can you do?

There is no easy answer to that - I know what you fear - I know you live through each day with the uncertainty, you must be exhausted

It is important to look after yourself. All of this doesn't take anything away from you as a person - actually it makes you a better person. It would be hard to see right now I know, but please - do the best you can to keep as healthy as you can. You are needed right now.

You will find other people here with troubled children. Some of us were tagged by @Appleblossom - thanks for the tag Apple. We can support you by being here and listening.

Whatever happens all of this will change you - let it be for the better. And I wish the best for your son as well. I really don't know much about schizophrenia - it must be totally unnerving for you

I'm sending my best wishes - please keep in touch

Hi @Mumslove ,

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I can see how much you love and care for your son, it must be so stressful and scary trying to figure out what next steps to take.

We have a Family, Friends and Carers forum that may be useful for you. You're welcome to share your experiences there as well and speak with others who are caring for a loved one.

Re: Treatment order

Hi Sophia,

He was diagnosed 3 years ago was supported by the youth early intervention team, has had the same case worker and under the guidance of a psychiatric dr. He was inconsistent with taking his medication orally so the started the Paliperidone injections about 8 weeks ago, his last injection was last Monday which they doubled his dose, his case manager visited last Thursday and after his visit issued a treatment order. He is not doing to well in hospital this morning they had to call the police in to sedate him as he was extremely hostile. He is now secluded and monitored hourly waiting to see if sedation calms him etc. I I'm trying to be strong and just wish l could trade places with him. Hold him and be there for him l would give anything to have his mind not so tormented. I feel helpless and just don't what to expect each day it seems to get worse for him. Thankyou for your time and kind heart, when one feels so alone reading people's responses helps me feel so alone and that you understand the roller-coaster I'm on.
