Hello @Former-Member . It's very nice to 'meet' you.
Welcome to the forums.
Thank you @Arizona for tagging me. Graycloudsxrain, I don't interact a whole lot here, but I at least visit most days, so if you are wanting to ask/ talk about anything, please do tag me. to do that, while you're writing in the reply to post thingamy, use the @ symbol and it will drop down a menu of who is already in the thread, if there's a large number of people though it may miss some.
YOu can also see who has supported a post (anyones) by clicking on the words '... supported' and it will show you in another drop down menu.
For myself, clinical depression has been a companion since childhood, along with severe anxiety, agoraphobia, c-ptsd and some physical medical issues too that mean all sorts of things are out of reach for me.
While I'm much older, I can recall some of my teenage years and the 'never quite fitting in' feelings I always had, it is very difficult when you can't talk to family as helpful friends, I know.
Way back then, especially when the thoughts/ feelings that were causing me problems, shall we say, I more or less pushed myself into learning how to be somewhat self sufficient-ish in as many ways as I could. If my mind was caught up in other thoughts, usually those intrusive thoughts couldn't get a foothold. I do realise that everyone is different and these ideas might be useful for some and not so much for others, but I offer them in the hope that youi, or someone else reading this, might find something suitable for themselves.
I learned how to sew for myself, and to this day I still make my own clothes as well as things for the house. Various craft skills, like crochet or knitting can be really satisfying and helpful to focus the mind keeping it away from some of those thoughts, and, it gives you a nice reward when you finished something you can use, cooking does the same thing.
Making something that turns out, or even that doesn't, but you learn from, can be so uplifting.
What sort of things do YOU like to do to amuse yourself, or to further your knowledge base, or to relax and destress?
What sort of things do you want to hear about from others, too? I can talk the leg off an iron pot if I have something I can get my teeth into, but that could bore you, and everyone else to tears, so best to know what you'd find interesting.
I hope you have a much nicer day!
