Topic Tuesday // Self Care for Carers // Tues 20th July, 7:00-8:30PM AEST

Hi there SANE Community,

We are very excited to announce that our next Topic Tuesday will be featuring the amazing @Shaz51 talking about self care for carers! Many of you will know @Shaz51 and her passion for carer wellbeing 🙂

Self care

Self care is a term that we speak about on the forums, so what does it mean? Self care is the activities that you do each day that promote your emotional, physical and social health.

Every person's self care will look different- it's as unique as we are. For carers, self care is an important part of maintaining wellbeing and preventing burnout. Often on the forums we hear about compassion fatigue, and the impact on wellbeing that can happen when we don't take time for ourselves.

This discussion will explore burnout and the role of self care in promoting wellbeing as a carer.

Please join us here on Tuesday the 20th of July 2021 from 7:00pm-8:30pm AEST to follow this conversation.

Question 4 for @Shaz51 and the community:
When we do feel like we are at that point of burnout, what does it look like or feel like?

And what things do you do to manage in those moments?

Burnout feels like complete inability to function. There is no 'me' in my life and I am just getting through the day not participating or noticing anything.

An awful feeling @bipolarbunny. Wishing you whatever strength you need to ride out these rough waves and holding hope there'll be a calmer seas ahead.
