What books are you currently reading that you find interesting? I havent read anything but parenting books and self help books for two years lol. The last "book" and i use that term loosley was 50 shades of gray 😂😂😂thinking of trying to get through a book a fortnight. Have a kindle so access isnt an issue.

Re: Book club

Hi @PeppiPatty. I'm not really around much at the moment due to being a bit too easily triggered by things. But I saw your callout and wanted to come online to send best wishes for you, husband and son. Big hugs to you in this difficult time.

Hi and good wishes to all others reading this as well.

DEarest @Mazarita and of course.....cheeky @Shaz51

@Mazarita yes,

I'm being triggered .....I must write to you about what happened to me last week.

After advice from here and all, I cut my Mum out of contact.

Well, husband went to hospital and he was very ill, not just pneumonia ...but more....but he has gotten better.

So I had contact with her. Lo and behold, she needed me to do something for her, to clean out her kitchen because she is renovating. So I went over to help her and she gave me all her old food and paid me money (!!) so I could afford the parking and petrol on seeing my husband and she says:

When I came back to live in Western Australia and you were helping me to get settled, you worked really hard for me. Thank you. You worked hard on driving me places so I felt more comfortable.

I almost fell over in shock. It took over 10 years to get a tthank you from her. At the time she had turned all her friends against me at and abused me whenever I took my son to hospital. I looked at her and said, thats nice, thanks for remembering and kept on going wiping down her kitchen cupboards.

Isnt that interesting for me,

Tell me how you are @Mazarita ??

Re: Book club

Hi @Shaz51, I have been receiving your mentions in Night Shift and here and it makes me feel good to be remembered, as I remember you too, dear. Hope you and husband are going okay at this time and that things only get better.

@PeppiPatty, that is awesome news that your husband is on the mend, and interesting about what happened this week after waiting all this time for something good with your mother. I am going well but taking a backseat on the forums for now, as I was finding myself falling too easily into depression from engaging here at times. I'm joining in to some of the webinar events and will see how I go after that.

Lots of love and hugs to both of you, old friends.

Re: Book club

I found the series "The Scavengers Daughters " by Kay Bratt quite an amazing and inspiring set of books. 4 in all and a fifth that was written later but actually preceeds the other 4 in time.

It is set in China around the Mao revolution but it shows above all the beauty and strength that can come from adversity. I'll certainly be reading them all again in a few years time.

They're available on Amazon in Kindle form but I'm sure they're also available as real books.

Re: Book club

@Mazarita and all my friends like @Shaz51

Yes i think of you and I think it's wonderful that we can both take time off.I was feeling bad but theres some beautiful people here........

Is @MoonGal around? Her intelligence on books.......she started up a thread on books a while ago didn't she?

Did you see my doll houses @Mazarita ??

@kurra....Thankyou for the thumbs up on that book......" The Scavengers Daughters " by Kay Bratt ......4 books !!

Once per year I get a big order from Amazon if I dont see stuff cheaper on Ebay or whatever. I will definatly look at the book you write about. My husband just rang me and saved me a small fortune on Celtic history books from researching a book I'm writing. He said We can get em on Google ..........( cant remember what he said)

@Mazarita, I'm thining about you honey. There's a book by Darian Leader I'm itching to get about people spending times in Mental Ill health AND other unmet needs called "Strictly Bi Polar."

I love his writing. I got hooked on his book called "Why Do women Write Loveletters and Not Send them?

I think thats the book......I gave mine away to someone recently seperated and crying a lot.....

Re: Book club

Hey @PeppiPatty, @Shaz51,
Thanks for the mentions. I am a voracious reader. I actually made a list of my *fav books after a social media connversation with a friend recently and came up with about 40 fictiona nd non fiction books that shook my chakras.

I have made a note of the titles of "The Scavengers Daughters" by Kay Bratt, @Kurra, and "Strictly BiPolar" by Darian Leader, @PeppiPatty, thank you for the recommendation.

I have just read two really interesting novels that I can reccomend (highly!).

The Mountain Story by Lori Lansens
✰✰✰✰
A redemption story - I love a reluctant hero and I lOVE love love, redemption stories and this one had multiple form many angles.

and

The Words in my Hand - Guinevere Glasfurd.
✰✰✰✰✰
A beautifully written story imagining the life of a real woman, Helena Jans who as a young maid in a guest house, had a relationship and gave birth to her daughter, Francine, who was Rene Descarte's child. Based on real characters but telling the story from Helena's perspective, of a young, literate (rare for her time) woman and the fairly tortured but reserved Descarte, it sings, a beautiful book.

(Sending calm and love to you @Mazarita )

Re: Book club

Dearest @Mazarita

I like you are taking a back seat but you realise that people here care about you.

I've certainly taken my time when I took some time out. I also went through a huge time thinking about my place in Sane Forums. I have been here for a little while: like you and @Appleblossom and @lisajane, @jacques and @MoonGal ........and had some very up and down stuff happening.

Am I really needed here? HAve I contributed properly here? I guess someone like @Silenus knows what I'm thinking...he is very able to express his feelings as is @Former-Member.........

Should we all start thinking about a really great ....thread of actual change like:

Maybe a health care plan that we can all push for us and others to have and download on a USB stick. I'm certainly sick of telling my story over and over again and maybe it is something that we can read when we are feeling down so this is something that we can see how we have gotten better??
