Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

  • So I took part in Topic Tuesday this evening on Physical Activity for Mental Health. I feel motivated so I am going to give up my couch potato ways and start to make an effort to get outside to walk for exercise. I am hoping that I will improve my mental health whilst losing weight and increasing fitness. I am going to keep you updated about my progress here. Feel free to join in - the more the merrier! Maybe we can help motivate each other.

Re: Walking for Wellness

i only check mine if dont feel well @Shaz51 dr changed meds, that helped. was on dift meds before thyroid op, they didnt seem to work the same after that. when ever dr takes bp now they say 'fine' but 5 years ago would have said bad for same reading .. lol

Re: Walking for Wellness

You'd need to be extra careful with kidney disease @Shaz51

I prob should talk to gp about stronger BP meds. Haven't meditated or done yoga nidra for a while, should go back to them.

Shorter walks more often might help @TAB .

Re: Walking for Wellness

@TAB When I am doing really well, I walk at first light every morning and do some gentle meditation exercise too at the parklands. It's been so long I forgot how good it made me feel! 😁

Re: Walking for Wellness

That sounds ideal @deshift . I'm not an early riser but often walk at sunset.

Re: Walking for Wellness

Hello @Oaktree @Former-Member wondering where you're at with walking and other exercise. I'm still walking every day but often break for a few minutes halfway on a handy park bench. I've dipped out on resistance bands but am doing exercises for a dodgy back. Overall I'm making an effort but wish I was doing more.

I'd love to hear how you're going.

Re: Walking for Wellness

I stopped walking over xmas/newyears and just got back in from my walk this evening. Was a bit unfit. Need to do resistance bands again but have been slack. I was disappointed I put on several kgs this time of year but that is to be expected but yes back at it again @Dimity
