Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

  • So I took part in Topic Tuesday this evening on Physical Activity for Mental Health. I feel motivated so I am going to give up my couch potato ways and start to make an effort to get outside to walk for exercise. I am hoping that I will improve my mental health whilst losing weight and increasing fitness. I am going to keep you updated about my progress here. Feel free to join in - the more the merrier! Maybe we can help motivate each other.

Hi guys just checking in with you. I wanted to ask Candydipper1 especially- have you managed to do some intentional exercise yet? I am waiting to hear all about your efforts. Well done you others who already have an exercise regime happening. We would love any further encouragement and or motivational stories that you are willing to share with us. Please feel free to post all that you are doing too! We would love to hear about it and support you too!

Re: Walking for Wellness

Well done hun! That's huge!!!

It was you that had a heart operation coming up on the 30th wasn't it?

If so you need to not push yourself too hard and listen to your body.

Aww thanks @bipolarbunny

You helped me by telling me that it was as simple as having a plan. At the moment my plan is to try and do 30 minutes of walking each day. We will see how that goes for now. It doesn't have to be speedy it just has to involve moving. That's a good start!

Re: Walking for Wellness

@Oaktree Absolutely my friend movement is movement it's not a race, you just do your speed, what feels comfortable for you. There maybe some days you can only do ten minutes, and that's perfectly awesome too, every little bit helps. So happy for you! 🙂 xx

Ok @Fluttershy1

I just checked back on the topic Tuesday thread and it is you with the heart condition.

It's important that you only do as much as is approved by your doctor. I don't want you making your condition worse. Just listen to your body and go gently.
My husband just had stents put in - in May - and afterwards he would get worn out very easily- he was told to sit on the couch for 4 weeks so I want you to expect to be doing nothing after your operation for a time. Try not to get frustrated by that. There will be plenty of time for exercise after you recuperate. Please talk to your doctor before doing exercise to make sure it's a good idea.

Proud of you though. You are awesome!
