Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

  • So I took part in Topic Tuesday this evening on Physical Activity for Mental Health. I feel motivated so I am going to give up my couch potato ways and start to make an effort to get outside to walk for exercise. I am hoping that I will improve my mental health whilst losing weight and increasing fitness. I am going to keep you updated about my progress here. Feel free to join in - the more the merrier! Maybe we can help motivate each other.

I think we all do. Although I always find it harder when it's not daylight savings @Shaz51

Metoo @tyme @Shaz51 @Dimity @GezzaP @Oaktree re doing more walking.

I did 2 days of exercises this week, which is getting back on the horse, but getting out walking in nature and doing self care is critical at the moment.

Hoping you're over your illness @TAB .

I was recommended an exercise physiologist but omigosh the exercise program they gave me is tough. Maybe it will get easier.

I'm still walking.

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Hey @Dimity I've been back at EP a few times now. Did think was getting same thing again. Seems to have passed. I had a couple easy days w physio cos time off but they were raising their voice yest, pushing me again .had mobility class 2hrs later . Was destroyed. Went to normal physio for pain other week. Mentioned I fell. Was silly , had foot half in boot hobbling to chair to put on properly. It slipped wrenched knee, hip into table. Wake up call. Anyway they said running hip and knee class .it's harder than you'd think. All weak spots. Been twice now. So that goes another 7 weeks. So do one Monday morning and Thursday afternoon, other one Monday and Friday afternoons . Still not walking. Dropping car off to mechanics in a few hrs will mean walking there and back. Touch wood . 😀

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Oh no @TAB I know you've had knee trouble for years. Sounds as though they're pushing you hard. A friend did a knee program called GLAD that she said helped.

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

I don’t usually write on this thread but I’m a little proud of myself at the moment. I have taken the dogs for a walk every morning for the last four and I have sat in the sun on the grass afterwards!

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Well done @Captain24 I bet the dogs loved it too.

It's great you're persevering @TAB .

I gotta do my exercises now before I give up
