Welcome and getting started

Introduction

Introduction

Hi guys I am new here but just skipped over introducing myself and threw myself straight into the forums so let's rewind a minute.

I was diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder in 1990. It changed my life and not in a good way. My mother said "now you will never do anything with your life" and my Aunt said "we should put her in an institution". It was right then that I decided that I would live the best life I possibly could with this illness. I since met and married my husband and we had 3 gorgeous children who have all now reached adulthood. I have been in and out of hospital a lot since around 2008 and somewhere along the way had BPD added to my diagnosis. I enjoy art and crafts, playing computer games and watching tv. I was working with a psychologist and we were going to work on childhood trauma as I grew up in an abusive household but I kept getting sick so we are currently on a break. Not sure if I want to go back to therapy at this point in time. Not sure what else to add so I will just leave it here. Feel free to ask questions x

Hello@Oaktree

You mentioned that you felt that talking with the clinic may have contributed to you feeling worse. I hope that my comments did not cause you distress.

Thinking about you and hoping that you are feeling more at ease

Best Wishes

Re: Introduction

Hi @Oaktree - i've had so many times like this, even trying to get through to Lifeline. It's really hard when we can't get through to the people who know us. It pushes all or buttons of feeling alone, abandoned, betrayed, and we tell ourselves were not worth it... and things get worse... does this sound familiar to you? Well, it's how I felt just reading your frustration.
Call it a day and start afresh tomorrow. A good sleep often helps me.
I'm sorry i don't talk much with people anymore, get moderated a lot (erased) which triggers me and I struggle bigtime keeping up. If people don't tag me with something meaningful... this brain of mine just forgets the history. I have to work in the 'present moment' mostly, and only a couple a day. But in this moment I just wanna say I hear you and understand a little and sending cyberhugs ❣️
Hi @HenryX ❣️

Hello @Oaktree @HenryX

I was reading through notifications and thought to myself I wonder if Meggle is actually alright. You had said so on writing thread. I thought that you sounded tire, exhausted. So I thought that I had better check over here. I found our dear Henry supporting our dear Meggle. That is friendship. I am still not upset with you, have not been once since meeting you. Quite the opposite. You and a few others help me to continue.

You have not been on the forums that long and have several threads, respond and support many. You remind me of myself when I literally landed on here upside down. Total chaos. Could not remember where I had written essays and or responses. Does Meggle need time for Meggle. Eeyore is you and only you. We will all support you in what you need. No one is upset with you at all. Everyone loves Meggle. Stay on this thread for a while if it helps you catch your breath and feel calmer. Do what is right for Meggle as you also have the real life to deal with. Love Tigger. Your friend Sophia.

Re: Introduction

Our dear @HenryX also

lovely to see you here supporting Meggles

I had to laugh about telling the clinic about our writing group. Incredible how much impact these forums can have on people. Sometimes time out helps balance virtual and real worlds. I noted what you said about super achiever. Perhaps that does apply to me. Always wanting to rescue people where there is misunderstanding.
It is hard work yet I love it when the interactions flow even though they are never sequential. Makes it even quirkier. Similar to Così which I love and have watched so many times. I am not a huge film buff but enjoy the alternative films. Well a quick check on writing friends and bedtime. Not usually on here this late. Not sleeping well at the moment anyway. Goodnight Meggle and HenryX. Hello Eor. Hope that you are managing. Xx

Hello @Oaktree

I am well thank you. Have arrived back about 3/4 hour ago from my regular Saturday activity.

Your note yesterday, to let me know that you had rested during the afternoon/evening, was very much appreciated. Thank you.

Also, I saw your note regarding Eeyore's involvement in the concert, and activity in helping with preparations. Really nice.

Look forward to 'talking' with you soon.

Love and Best Wishes

Re: Introduction

Hi @HenryX

How was your day? I didn't go to Church today as I didn't want to wear my mask for an hour so I just stayed home. Will go next week. Today is supposed to be last day of mask restrictions as you know. I haven't heard anything today. Guess I will go check out Mark McGowan's Facebook page for details.

Re: Introduction

Hello @Oaktree

Going fine today thank you Meggle.

Went to AGM this morning at one of our local churches. Reflected in prayer for the people we know who are facing issues in their lives. Because most of us are over 60's we are unfortunately, but also understandably, faced more often with news of difficulties, illnesses etc. I was pleased to have been invited to participate. Part of what community is about here.

Understand that the mask wearing must be getting a bit irksome, particularly when we know that the likelihood of transmission is almost negligible. The only awareness of masks here is when people from the Perth/Peel region are here for work or holiday. Must be very unpleasant for those people. Pleased that you will be able to 'discard' the mask as of tomorrow.

I hope that you are feeling well and everything is ok family-wise. Can appreciate the linkages and tensions with young people at home. The desire to spread wings and practice flying but knowing that parents are looking after them.

I had a message from my daughter recently, intending to come up for a visit. However, have not heard anything since, so intend messaging to see that everything is ok. News, that I may not want to hear, tends to set me back a bit, so I also tend to be cautious. As I have said before, though I may appear very confident in print, it tends to be a different matter in the person. Have been burnt too many times. However, I am aware that avoiding issues is not a productive way to deal with them.

Another week in front of us and new opportunities and challenges to which to look forward.

Love and Best Wishes

HenryX
