Looking for work and not getting anywhere

Looking for work and not getting anywhere

Hi guys, I had a job interview today. I was super nervous, nearly hyperventilating with every question that I answered to the guy. On the other hand, the guy who interviewed me didn't even seem to care that I was nearly having a panic attack simply by being there. He didn't seem to care that I haven't had a job a year thanks to COVID 19 and budgeting restraints from my last job. He didn't seem to care that the job before that shut up shop on me either.

All I want is a damn job - I reckon I am capable of working a bit each week. I am on the DSP, so it's not compulsory to work, but I want to work. I don't want to waste all the study I have done on nothing. I am just sick of going from interview to interview being looked over by everyone else.

Life sux atm and I hate it 😞 I have been on DSP since I was 20 years old - and next year I am going to hit the big 4 -- 0 .. It seems like I have done nothing productive in my life.......... great.. not... 😞

Oh good grief @soppykat @HenryX

I took such care in writing, checking, deleting, thinking, feeling, responding, deleting.

Reading over.

I was quite pleased with the end result and responded to each of you with some depth.

I also included @StuF and @TideisTurning

I then received another flipping ticket!!

I do take on board your advice Henry.

Sorry have not the energy or substance to tag, check, reread.

It was all supportive, thanking and appreciating you all.

Feeling that all of us had managed to learn more about each other's unique style of written expression within a short time of 3 pages.

Well done on this thread SoppyKat. You have achieved more than you thought you set out to.

Quite remarkable.

A tad over writing from the heart today.

Sophia 💜

Hello @soppykat

That is very lovely of you to say such a thing.

It is not hard work in the least, you are very likeable.

Yes I do care about you as I can read and feel so much in between, all around your words.

You are as you said still trying, which is a lot harder than anyone who has not suffered with any symptoms of mental illness (hate that term), could begin to understand.

I also am the same as you, dealing with symptoms of an unwell mind (prefer this term) on and off as life continues to throw challenges in my path.

I know how hard it is to attempt to come across as calm and serene. All the whilst, anxiety trying to take over.

I have also endured a period in my life where I experienced several panic attacks on different occasions, also hospitalised as a result of a gp telling me to go straight to emergency department. At the time I did not understand.

Medical people study medical terms, symptoms, diagnoses, not how the person is affected emotionally.

You were very brave turning up for an interview knowing that you have anxiety; fear of an imminent panic attack at any time.

This is where I see your strength and resilience. I read about the ill-mannered twit who interviewed you.

You had every right to be there. That person did not. That person needs further training or to be working in a different line of work where not dealing with human beings.

I know that I am rambling.

I just want to emphasise that it was not you who did not meet expectations at that interview. It was the interviewer who should not be interviewing.

Keep this in mind, so that you do not give up trying as you said you are trying which is great. Expand your search. Admin skills can be used in so many varieties of jobs that people do not consider as admin skills.

I have done it again, written too much.

Everyone needs people in their lives who care about them.

Take care soppykat.

ps I love cats.

I had 3 now down to one sitting purring next to me at this very minute.

Do you have a cat?

only respond if you feel up to it, I will not be offended.

Have you tried the good morning chat?

lovely people there.

brief stuff. not essays like mine.

Re: Looking for work and not getting anywhere

hello @soppykat

I missed your response..sorry about that was knee deep in reading back over posts that I had written several years ago.

Is there anyone nearby who has a cat or animal who you could visit even if you prefer the cat or animal laugh?

sorry. sense of humour leaking.

more along the lines of knowing someone not too far away who has a pet. Visiting the person means you get the bonus of spending time with the animal.

I recognised that I did this for a long time well into adulthood. Preferring to spend time with the pet rather than the people who were more interested in talking about themselves.

Yes I understand you feeling that way.

Animals are far more interesting and some inviting.
