You just reminded me of another reason for the procedure, and that is, you still have a second copy, particularly of a long text should your message on the SANE forum site go astray.

Your comment "somewhere on here, there is a thread devoted to site issues" is another reason for my post. It is difficult for a new member and even longer-standing members to find some of the site information and functions. It might be there but where? This information needs to be front-and-centre on the site, again particularly for new members. If site functions and information are hard to find, it just frustrates newer members. Then, the purpose of the site is compromised, because potential members go elsewhere, or worse still, are left out on their own.

I hope @Chester-ann does not mind us using her site post location for this discussion. However, it was Chester-ann's comment re "finally figured out how to make a post" (paraphrased) that initiated my thoughts on this subject. I will endeavour to relocate some of this material when discussion drops off.
