I would find a comfortable place to settle in and get your bearings considering everything in your eternal world is dysfunctional right now. Whenever I need to make an important decision I do it in a frame of mind where I can think clearly by gathering all the facts I need to come to a conclusion. I don't think this man is going to serve your interests even though he may be flattering to you and acting as a means of escape from your toxic family. He may be charming now but the fact that he is trying to pressure and hurry you is a strong indicator he is an abuser. You could wind up in even a more desperate situation then you are now. I would put dating on standby and focus improving how you see yourself, your self concept and true inner worth You can do this via affirmations or reading books or whatever modality appeals to you to boost your sense of self which is consistent with someone that does not willingly put themselves unnecesarily in harms way. I know you can do this, don't let this man's appealing online presence coax you into something you didn't expect. If I were you I would use this "void" to build on my self development then look into entertaining a relationship if it was based on respect for my wishes/preferences, mutual regard and overral emotional wellbeing. It may be nice for now having some attention from a male considering everything in your life is not working now but you owe it to yourself to get better first, find a stable foothold, build your family and social networks

@LostAngel

I dont mean to put up any gurus who know it all. They dont exist, but there are better and worse things to listen to. I found the point of finding balance between passivity and agression really important. For me, I became aware of that in my early mid 20s and have been in a dance finding balance withiin ever since.

I am from a different generation, but have been told a few times to do online dating. Eventually I tried it for about 6 months. I met interesting people, but I found it tugged at my heart and soul too much, too many airy possibilities that would fail to be relevant to me upon meeting them. Many figuring out whether or not to leave their wives, or whatever. I have not done it for 10 years

The other posters have offered their insights. One part of growing up is becoming more independent, whilst also realising we are all interdependent. I do not know your family, but finding a bit more stability within yourself sounds very wise. Finding more balance within your own heart and mind, might be better than outsourcing to famikly or potential partner.

The reality is whoever you end up pairing with, you still have to manage daily life. It might seem boring, but it can also anchor us through other things, then we can trust more in the random opportu ity that life presents..

Take Care
