Mentally ill and no support

Mentally ill and no support

Why is it that when your really ill but have a mental illness that's hard to treat you just get passed around and no one cares and then there are so many psychiatrists that don't even believe in you Dx so you essentially get worse. It seems people and psychs are only interested in helping those with schizophrenia bipolar depression anxiety etc not complex issues.

Desperately need help and someone to advocate for me and there is no help. Seriously. Have been trying to get a case manager but the revolving door again. So over this and it's no wonder people give up and end their life themselves 😔

Re: Mentally ill and no support

@LillyEtAl. I really sympathize with the ordeal you have suffered. I visited a hypnotist years ago, similar experience to you with the sexual assault. Unlike you I did not register a complaint because I self-blamed. Like your psychologist, this person then attacked another woman and advocated she instigated the assault. These predators unfortunately cause a lot of harm to genuine professional psych's/hypnotists/Dr's. I suggest you try contacting Beyond Blue, these SANE forums are excellent, but BB have trained counsellors who may be able to recommend someone who is more understanding, with less chance of placing you in danger. With psych's if you're unsure or feel unsafe, you can ask them for credentials/qualifications/reviews from previous patients. If the psych refuses your request, you also have the right to terminate the appointment.

Re: Mentally ill and no support

@LillyEtAl. Sounds like a nightmare you are having to live through. Glad you're not giving up the fight though.
I worked for a health network in mental health & ended up on WorkCover. So when I got really sick this year and had suicidal thoughts, I had to go outside of my 'zone' & use a different CAT team. Had to bloody fight & explain why it was not appropriate for me to be looked after by local team - as I'm in discussions with a lawyer. And being in a country area - the CAT teams are further apart. But i got there in ths end. Fight fight fight.
You may need to travel away to get the help you need.
Therapists need to look after patients, not worry about defending a fellow therapist accused of sexual assault. Bugger. It makes me mad.
I truly hope you get an advocate soon

Wow! I'm amazed with how you do cope. That sounds really hard.
What helps you? Walking, reading, meditating? It seems like you have some strength hidden underneath.
I hope there is someone or somewhere that supports you💕

Hi Lilly

It took me 15years to find the right help but when I did it was worth it.
Don't give up because help is out there for you.
Be strong and believe in yourself.
I found my help through my normal doctor ... have you tried this?
After being in and out of mental hospitals my help was rhete all along I just didn't realise it. I now lead a haply life with ups and downs but because I am medicated properly I can now deal with it better. I have BIPOLAR
What do you have sorry I don't understand your accromymns?

Re: Mentally ill and no support

I can not say that I know what you are going through because I don't only you know this. I too struggled to get help when I desperately needed it. I suffered alone for many years before I finally managed to get my doctor to listen to me. In fact the the reason he finally agreed that there was more to my condition than his initial diagnosis of clinical depression was the fact that my husband went to see him and told him the hard truth of what my life was like.
Do you have anyone that could do this for you because it just could help you get the help you so obviously need
