Mentally ill and no support

Mentally ill and no support

Why is it that when your really ill but have a mental illness that's hard to treat you just get passed around and no one cares and then there are so many psychiatrists that don't even believe in you Dx so you essentially get worse. It seems people and psychs are only interested in helping those with schizophrenia bipolar depression anxiety etc not complex issues.

Desperately need help and someone to advocate for me and there is no help. Seriously. Have been trying to get a case manager but the revolving door again. So over this and it's no wonder people give up and end their life themselves 😔

Re: Mentally ill and no support

Hi @LillyEtAl I have found it very hard to get support that worked. Just keep trying and believe you are worth it. Since being on this forum peer support helped a lot til I managed to find some programs that suited me.

What is happening for you tonight?

Re: Mentally ill and no support

@LillyEtAl. Can I ask what the actual problem is? Apparently there's no sign of bipolar/schizophrenia/anxiety etc. Have you actually been diagnosed as such. If it is just general depression, how do you feel? If you spend most of your days crying, feeling no-body cares etc, It could be that until you're able to give a Dr an actual idea what the problem is, you won't get a proper diagnosis. Are you suicidal, if you are feeling that bad, please don't hesitate, call lifeline, Beyond Blue. Both organizations have counsellors who will listen and I know with BB, they will contact someone to be with you. Are you on AD's for depression? Perhaps you should go back to your Dr and let him know you feel really bad and need help. ,

Re: Mentally ill and no support

I've been Dx with Depression, Anxiety, CPTSD and DID. The last "Psychologist" I saw ended up sexually assaulting me and as it's before police and HCCC can't really talk about it. Very much over trying to find help. I've climbed mountains looking. I know there is a specific trauma unit in Brisbane but trying to get in is proving harder than expected thanks to what that Psychologist did. 😔

Hello Lilly...

I know days can be hard

I've had a hard day too

But at least I'm still around to do this post

And there's still something out there in the future worth fighting for

There's still hope

Re: Mentally ill and no support

@LillyEtAl. Is the reason it's hard for you to get into this clinic because you have no one on your side to help push the clinic to get you a bed? Or is it because of you oast experience of abuse that you fear going in?

Re: Mentally ill and no support

I know it's hard to trust if you've been abused in the past

I suppose learning how to read properly is a good reason for me to persevere

Re: Mentally ill and no support

A lot for you, and no one siding with you. Aside from GP.

Is there peer advocacy in your state?

They say it was heroine and speed

But it still seems bizarre to have turned out this way

I suppose there are predators our there

I hope I haven't offended anyone on 'saneforums'

Re: Mentally ill and no support

@utopia no help, no advocacy, small town so when psychologist was informed of pending legal action, Chargers and getting deregistered she started contacting fellow people she new and saying a lot of lies - it's complicated. And completely distressing. Frustrating and just feel like your hitting your head against a brick wall.
