My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

@tyme they have calendar templates in the design studio. I then found the cat pictures on Pinterest and uploaded them and then attached them to each month. Attach. Flatten. Offset. Takes a bit of fiddling around to make sure all the calendar pieces are the same size. Making sure the cats sit in the right spots so they don’t get cut off- had to redo a couple cause of that.

the tshirts. I just ordered the iron on transfer pictures from online. I then have a mini heat press I got from aldi. I actually ordered tshirts from online that had the same picture on them but I hated the sizing and quality so got a refund (got a refund without returning so still have the shirts!). But you could totally do all of that on the cricut, but I don’t have all the coloured iron on stuff.

I really love playing around with the cricut. So much ya can do with it

Re: My Mosaic

Oh! So the t-shirt transfer was not made on the cricut. You purchased them already made and ironed them on?

As the for the cat templates, are they made of cardboard? How did you get all the colours? @Bow

I am in awe.

Thank you thank you thank you for sharing.

Re: My Mosaic

Yeah nah the tshirts weren’t done on the cricut sorry if I didn’t make that clear @tyme

but the cat calendar. It’s a print and cut project. Make it all up in design space, then ‘make’ and you send it to printer, it prints with special markers in the corners, you then load it on to the mat and the machine scans it to know exactly where to cut.

I’ve also….. saved projects as a pdf and sent it through to office works to print and fingers a crossed….. it all lines up and cuts once I’ve picked them up tomorrow! I have some full colour pages that I didn’t wanna use my ink… and I wanted full vibrant colours. So I should be able to open back up the project in design studio, press ‘make’ and when it says send to printer, you can press ‘ already printed’ and you load it straight onto the mat. I hope it works!!

Re: My Mosaic

Sorry @tyme I get excited by what I can do with it!

Re: My Mosaic

I'm trying to visualise this.

So you use the cricut to cut each pattern on a different colour, then you put it together manually?

If so, then that's a LOT of work! @Bow

Sorry if I've pictured this all wrong.

Don't be sorry. I'm really interested. I didn't even know all these things are possible. That's why my machine sat unboxed in the garage for about 3-5 years. @Bow

I thought it just cuts words and there's only so many words I want to cut out.

Please keep sharing. I don't even mind if you send links to help me understand. This is all new to me, but I'm super interested.

I've also got foil and the embossing tool. I just don't know how to use it.

Re: My Mosaic

Noooo @tyme

I took screenshots but forgot to attach.

And also just learnt that I saved something else over the cat calendar I made for my SW!! Doh!

this is another one I did. This is what it looks like in design studio.

you then make…. And this is how it will print each page

it will do each page individually. Print it, load it on a mat, cut. Then do the next page, print, load, cut.

id totally encourage you to do something like a calendar as a print and cut project. There are heaps of different templates to look through. People have done all the work and you can basically just pick a project and click ‘make it’ without even doing anything. Just load the material you need- for a calendar just some card stock and your off 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

These are all a basic cut @tyme I’ll put them on Christmas cards

Re: My Mosaic

Oh! I think I'm getting it now.

Step 1:

Design it and print on a normal printer - print it on cardstock

Step 2:

Put the card stock with the print through the cricuit to cut.

I think I get it now!

Do you know why I was so confused? In my head, you cut out each number, letter, picture, then put it together manually on a design!

I zoomed into your other projects and I get it now!

What are your thoughts on starting a cricut thread? Would it be exclusive because maybe not too many people can afford one?

Yet on the other hand, I want to keep all the projects together so I can go back and see what I want to make.

Re: My Mosaic

Oh gosh no! Not each individual letter and number @tyme ain’t nobody got time for that!! Lol

I’d be keen for a cricut thread. Might be some others out there…. Or might even influence others to buy one!
