Re: i cant stand the pain anymore

Hi @mamabearsall123

It's really hard to get help in the public system and if your pain is chronic there is little an ordinary GP can do - and a bulk-billing clinic offers less so - therefore financial your situation makes it so much more difficult

There are small things we can do for chronic pain - but it feels insulting to me to be told to do what is patently obvious when a much more serious intervention is needed - so I know you are waiting and waiting and - yes - the COVID situation has made it harder for everyone across the board - no one is unaffected

Still I believe the Government has done its best - in Australia we are much better off that the rest of the world but you are right - it feels just plain bad

But I do hear you - I have chronic orthopaedic pain and I am in the private system and I do have help and it's lucky I have a very good pain specialist who is hands-on with his treatment

But I do hear you - you need a pain clinic but they vary and it's getting harder - and added to your situation you have depression and anxiety and no doubt each makes the other worse

You need these tests for lupus - but in the meantime - day to day - rough - I do know and I do understand

All I can offer is this forum - we really care about each other here and we do listen and care

Hearing you @mamabearsall123

Tbh I do not believe medical system workers should charge a cent over medicare. Unfortunately they do not agree with me. It is what it is. SO I take my spending of govt money seriously and put higher standards on those getting it. Its not just those on benefits, by a long shot.

When families are young, money is often tightest, so there is little left for mammas.

One of the ways I have made this forum work for me, is to see how those better off than me cope, and try and put those things in place somehow on limited budget. It is sad fact that our system is skewed towards the richer, but when those who are in private system share knowledge and benefits, somehow I have found the strength to put down my resent and work with it. (Though in past I may have thought some very bad words about it all. )

We have a better healthcare system than many countries, but it does make it easier of people think cos we are in this COuntry its all plain sailing.

Re: i cant stand the pain anymore

Hi

I am so sorry to hear about your pain situation.

i am on a DSP and also suffer with chronic pain and was in your situation a few years ago. i did some homework looking up pain specialists that BB and found one that wasn't to far from me when I lived in Melbourne at that time. I went to my gp and asked him to refer me to the pain specialists (he should of allready offered it IMO) and there was a bit of a wait a few months but once I got in everything changed I got help with everything they are very much worth the visit.

hope this helps

Mick

Hi,

Thank you for posting about this. I hope by people relating to you, you feel less alone and find a way forward.

I appreciate the responses here. I'm in physical pain everyday, from my neck right down to my feet.

I'm tired of it. I'm also tired of doctors who have no vlue, think they do, but will not listen to you. So over it.

I didn't know there were actusl pain clinics. I live in a small regional town, but Zim going to see if we have one here. I'm tired of living in pain. Like you, Zi also have chronic depression and severe anxiety. It's getting harder to cope.

I truly hope you find, support and other useful things here on the forum.

Take care.
