Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Re: Need to vent

I'm glad @BlueBay that you were able to have a full and frank discussion with your GP around work and rejection and anything else that is currently bothering you right now. Its important to have a real person to bounce things off.

I have no doubt you will find something eventually BB. But the job market is so difficult right now, so many people are looking for work. Whether they want it or not, and lets face it ... some people really dont want to work, but have to apply in order to receive centrelink benefits. So you are competing with a lot of other people, some genuine and others not. But the shear bulk of applications must make it a near impossible task for future employers to sort through the chaff to find the few rare genuine gems amongst the chaff. I think they just keep missing you BB ... but they will find you eventually. Keep trying.

Wondering if you have heard back from the pharmacy you used to work at, at another nearby location? That one sounded quite promising. And even if they dont have something immediately available, they may be happy to keep your resume and call you in future if something comes up.

No apologies for complaining BlueBay. Yes there are a lot of us dealing with flooded communities, and more seemingly being added each day. It is very sad, in fact tragic for those who are losing homes, livestock, pets and businesses. As if we havent all had a hard enough time of it already over the last 18 months! But @BlueBay you too are dealing with very significant concerns, no less important than anyone else here. Please remember that.

Re: Need to vent

Hey @BlueBay ,

I can see you hurting about your job 'rejections', yet I don't see them as 'rejections'.

Rather, I see it as employers missing out on all the awesomeness you can bring into the company.

Another thing is, I've always looked at it as "it just wasn't for me". I'd rather be filtered/sifted out in the application or interview process than get the job, realise it's not for me, then leave.

If anything, you applying for the jobs in the first place means a lot in itself - you are willing to make changes to better yourself.

I hope you can see it from this point of view.

Re: Need to vent

Well my anxiety got the better of me todsy. Ended up at my doctors after work. Thought I was going to faint. I was sweaty and felt horrible. My doctor checked me out and reassured me I'm ok. He checked my BP and it was good. He said my high anxiety is causing me to feel sick.
I tild him that I was so convinced that I was sick or would faint. I know my anxiety is high.

Im home now laying down. I'm really tired

@MDT how are you tiday? Are you feeling any better.

Re: Need to vent

Hi @BlueBay . Sorry to hear your anxiety got the better of you today. Rest up for a while now and make the most of a bit of free time. It doesnt come around that often with a house packed full to the rafters. I note that your D will be moving out soon. Lots of changes afoot for you. Do you think that may be causing some of your anxiety too?

Love and hugs BlueBay. Thought you may appreciate the pics below.

Re: Need to vent

Hi my friend @Emelia8

you could possibly be right. i didn't think about that. Yes I am very anxious and sad and teary about that.

I wasn't going to write anything here but i think it will help me; so i need to now.

She's moving out after Easter which is only next week. So maybe in 2-3 weeks time they will leave. I know it is the BEST thing for them; it's fantastic she has found someone who is so beautiful, caring and genuine. He is such a nice guy. And so loving of her daughter too. I know she and my boys need to move out one day, they are all old enough to move out now. Gosh I was 20 when i got married, i had to learn a lot and i was young. I never got the help from my mum as I have given to my kids.

So i do know that one day it will just be me and hubby. I also know that my D is only moving 30 mins away from us; it's not far - but it's not like living with us.

I think for me i have been 'holding on to little A' as tight as i can and for as long as i can because i know one day she will leave us.

She gives me so much joy and love; she is the only that gives it to me.

What do i do once she leaves?

things will change?

It's another revelation i have made this week - that i use my little A as a 'positive hold'

I am very scared that once she moves out i will have no one; i will be alone at home. so when i am in my dark times i will have no one to help me. i won't have little A to make me laugh and get me back on top of things.

I will be alone. i know i have hubby - but it's not the same.

Oh gosh, another revelation - i am so scrrewed up aren't I?

hope what i wrote makes sense????

xxxooo

Re: Need to vent

Yes @BlueBay ... it all made sense. 😊

And certainly nothing of what you just said indicates that you're 'screwed up'. Not at all ... in fact its all very common and totally understandable feelings around your D and little A moving out.

Can you try to think of it as being that you will see your dear little A on your own terms in future. No more early morning wake ups! No more interuptions when all you want is peace and quiet. No more scattered toys to trip over. I think, because they are leaving ... all you can see right now are the negatives. But there are so many positives too ... not just for your D and little A ... but for you also. The move is a very good thing Blue. And I'm sure you will be able to phone and visit any time you want to. I'm sure your D would want that.

I'm glad you wrote about your feelings around this here on your thread. It is a major adjustment for all of you, and would be an understandable trigger to your ongoing anxiety.

Emelia 💕
