Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Re: Need to vent

Good morning @BlueBay

Gosh that sounds so tough about your mum's controlling behaviour. I can imagine how worried you are about your dad. I would be the same. Families can be so so difficult and I have had many moments in my life with my own mother where I have thought 'why do you have to be like this'. Great that you had a nice lunch with your daughter though 💓

Hi @hanami @oceangirl @Snowie @Paperdaisy @Shaz51 @Emelia8 @Anastasia and others following

My dad is in hospital. I just found out and i am panicking. Too many 'what if's'

he has gone in via ambulance from home with a terrible cough and chest issues and also issues with his legs

i am so so so worried, i can't stop thinking about him. what if he gets worse or

i can't think about the worst but at the same time i am stressing

not able to see him - he is not allowed any visitors

my mum told me that she will call me this afternoon with any updates (nice of her)

oh my god - what do i do? emotional and stressed and panicking

i am fearing the worst😢

Oh @BlueBay , this is a really tough situation. I'm so sorry to hear your dad has been taken to hospital, it must be awful for you right now feeling so helpless. I'm wondering if you could call the hospital directly and explain the situation. Maybe a lovely staff member there will be understanding and be able to keep you informed about your dad's health?

Re: Need to vent

Hi @BlueBay

I am really sorry to hear that your Dad is in hospital. But at the same time I am happy to know that he is being taken care of, because I know how worried you were about him. I agree with @hanami , that it could be worth phoning the hospital to see if you can get an update on his condition. As his daughter, they should give you an update. Is there any reason why he is not permitted any visitors?

Re: Need to vent

thank you @hanami @Emelia8 for your support.

I think the 'no visitors' is because of his cough, as i am sure they will do a covid test. they will probably isolate him because of his possible covid until test is clear.

I know at my local hospital no visitors were allowed a few weeks ago, but not sure if things have changed.

I will give the hospital a call and see if they will tell me anything. At the moment i am not coping, i am a crying mess. i need to stay strong. i have emailed my psych and told her.

Re: Need to vent

@BlueBay yep my local hospital was the same a few weeks back regarding visitors. All due to covid. Makes it hard for loved ones.

I'm glad you emailed your psych to let them know about what's going on and hopefully they get back to you soon.

Re: Need to vent

@BlueBay So glad your mum rang to keep you up to date. It’ll be good when they have an idea of what’s going on for your dad. I’m wishing and hoping you get to talk with him, even over the phone in the next few days, and for a good outcome for you both.
