Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Re: Need to vent

Hey @BlueBay ,

Nerves play a big role. Please take care. Try and go into work with a different mindset. It can make all the difference.

I had two people contacted me tonight. Both are out of work due to covid. They don't get any support, so they are struggling. I guess I/we don't feel that side of things because we have work. It really made me stop and think how fortunate I am. If anything, I've way too much work and am somewhat grateful for the lockdown, because it has reduced/postponed some of my work.

Oh well, it is what it is. We can't change it. Be just have to try change how we view it.

Hugs, BPDSurvivor

Hi @BPDSurvivor

I am very lucky and grateful to have a job where I can still work through lockdown. I have a few friends who have their own businesses and had to close down. No pay for them. It's really scary times.

I just came back from a 30 min walk in cold temperature of 4 deg. Freezing but really nice just to feel that cold air on my face.

Hope you have a nice day xx

@BlueBay You're so right. You are extremely lucky to have work, a roof over your head and food on the table. There are so many struggling out there. My heart bleeds for them. Although there have been government emergency payments provided, it is so hard to get, and many are not eligible.

Im so glad you went for a walk today.

im ready to knock off now....

hi @BPDSurvivor @Shaz51 @saltandpepper @Emelia8 @Owlunar @MDT

Not well tiday. Went to doctors and he's thinking it could be start to diverticulitis again. If it gets worse I need to go to hospital. Again!!! I hope it's just gastro but I've got meds to take.
My GP wanted me to call wirk to let them know. I don't think the manager was too impressed. But I don't care. My GP said I can't go to wirk feeling like this - in pain.
I'm really tired. I think a dkeep is what I need.
hope everyone is ok ❤️

@Owlunar I am praying you're ok. Missing you here heaps ❤️

I have no idea why but this is what's happened today.

I received a email with next two weeks roster. I am currently working 20 hours but NOT anymore 😞

I am now going to work 9 hours a week. How the f.... am i meant to work like that. how the f....k am i meant to live on that. why do employers do that. they used me when they were desperate for stafff, made me do all these extra shifts and now i have nothing.

they have employed two new young girls - that's why. they have taken my hours.

this is so not fair. i have to look for another job

why do i bother

may as well just go and never ever come back

i am angry, emotional, hurt, used and abused

i am sick of being taken advantage of when they needed staff they used me

i am not worth living any more

Re: Need to vent

@BlueBay I'm so sorry to hear that's happened; that's unfair to have had your work hours cut so much so abruptly. It's completely understandable to feel hurt, overwhelmed, or upset by this. We're here for you and sending so much support

I wonder if it's possible to say to your work that you need more hours, and if they'd accommodate that? If not: you might also be able to access income support.

I'll also check in with you by email as I'm concerned for your wellbeing 💐

Re: Need to vent

I empathise with you my awesome friend @BlueBay
This has happened to me in the past at my old job.
I guess in the end I accepted that management made a choice and I didn't like it one bit. I had to depersonalise the situation. Easier said than done i know

Re: Need to vent

@BlueBay Do you think this might be a blessing in disguise? You were struggling with the long hours and you do have health issues to be wary of. Perhaps this could be a good balance now? I know it's not a lot of hours, but it gives you some cash and the chance to get out and build relationships with other staff and chat to clients. Those are all still positive aspects to it--and perhaps this will be kinder to your back as well. Hours can change too, 9 hours doesn't mean that's how it will be always.

Re: Need to vent

Just been told by my friend who works in the same pharmacy as me that she heard yesterday that if I tske tomorrow off I won't have a job

I'm still in a bit if pain I'm upset. I'm angry.
I can't lose this job but then my health comes first.
