Advice to myself is easy; don't have children. I love my kids dearly and I wouldn't want different kids, but I found mothering so very hard that it almost broke me. The responsiblity for a family did break their father and the marriage ended because we were both so unsuited to parenthood.
What would I tell my folks is a little harder, but maybe "She's a good person, cut her some slack. Trust her to make good decisions occasionally and don't come down so hard if she's not the best at something"
now there's a can of worms.
