To all

To all

i have been reading through a few of your stories/topics I am seeing many correlations though there are many differences in areas, there is implosions there is dv there is depression, there is anxiety, I am no different and when you look you can see similarities in fear, self danger, loneliness, hiding, and something I have noticed is community support groups are minimal so we go online but also with that I find a detachment from others and also ourselves. Ok ok ok so I have few if any answers but no matter your situation you are not alone

Re: To all

Hi @Redraw. I think lack of community is one of the hardest things to cope with when you have an MI. Studies show a strong community link is beneficial for mental health.

Re: To all

But community to a large degree has fallen away over the years I live in a seasonal town and though I know a fair few people the connectivity is not there as it once was, I have some theoretical reasonings for this but little concrete, and having no support groups makes things so very hard

Re: To all

Yes I agree ... connectivity has vanished and I can theorise about it too .. but now is the time to reach out for me ... to give and to receive ..even if it is limited and just online

I love visual artists @Redraw

and their work

... transports me in ways that are unexpected ... did a pol sci unit .. on politics and art ... and am fine that others have the talent in that area ... I would buy one of your and @Faith-and-Hope 's pieces for my piano studio ... but shucks about the anonymity rules ... good luck ...

Hung out at Montsalvat a bit during puberty ... had a Jorgenson relo do a sketch and an uncle do a portrait of me ... but there are not many photos of me as a child ... and the painting was lousy ...but maybe that is why I was ok and understood rationale and overcame physical shyness to work as a life model ..

my brains not working well enough to give a real response, but i absolutely agree with you, i've throught the same... there is so much that people have in common on here in terms of isolation and disconnection.

Glad you are here @Redraw

Re: To all

we look at the world and see that disassociation has risen along with technology, depression and anxiety reaching pandemic proportions, and the fact that people seem to have detached from most internal moralities and conscience. So perhaps the normals are the ones that suffer as apposed to those that chase illusions and are so shallow as to adapt to the changes that have occurred in such a short time as to facilitate the rush and obsession with self and instant gratification.

I tend to agree @Redraw

Which is why I was attracted to the Fankfurt School which looked at social and psychoanalytic phenomena.

That was even before I did a year 'On Psychoanalysis and Social Theory' ... and all the French stuff. Lacan Kristeva etc

Recently I met a lady who had known a leading light of that Frankfurt School of thought - as family babysitter .. no BS. She lives in my area now .. but was in his when she was a teen.

She only lasted 2 sessions as his kids were a bit difficult apparently.

Ah theory and practise ...

Was watching firefly again as this particular part seemed to resonate quite strongly, perhaps a few might know the details surrounding this line but I think it should make sense I may add it to my other little page too.

"You know uh, you know how you get... scared, or, or worried or nervous when you don't want to be scared or worried or nervous; you push it to the back of your mind, you try not to think about it. Your amygdala is what lets you do that, it's like a, a filter in your brain that keeps your feelings in check... She feels *everything*, she can't not."
