Anxiety and worried

Anxiety and worried

So I have been going through bad anxiety and dizziness since returning to Brisbane. This is going to sound stupid but My mum has asked me 3 times now in a few years if I have life insurance and keeps saying its to protect myself, I know they are going through some financial struggles. It's making me go crazy and thinking possible unrealistic things. I haven't seen mum in over a month as my dizziness has been bad as I have pppd. I no longer feel I trust her and really not keen to meet up. My anxiety and depression are making me feel bad, not to mention back pain. I'm single and have no kids. Anyone got any advice around this like insurance thing? How do you know if your gut instinct is kicking in or it's just paranoia.

Re: Anxiety and worried

Dear Flower88. I'm wondering if your mum is picking up that you feel like ending your life. Sometimes when we have severe anxiety, and, in your case, dizziness, it can make family members worry about our state of mind. Are you suffering from Vertigo (dizziness)? Vertigo can really cause severe distress almost to the point where we can't get up. Why don't you ask your mum straight out why she is harping about insurance. It could be she is thinking of you being unable to work and worrying that without insurance how are you going to survive. She could be talking about workers insurance where you get a certain amount each month till you are able to resume full work duties. Try not to be too suspicious till you know there is something to suspect. She could be genuinely concerned.

Hey thanks for the reply, all this went down before my anxiety 😞 definitely not suicidal. I did ask her she said she just wants to make sure I'm looking after myself. But has asked me three times. Feeling silly for thinking its anything bad lol

Dear Flower88. You had mentioned having unrealistic thoughts. I thought perhaps you may have said something to give her the idea you could be suicidal. I never suspected suicide was in your mind. I apologize if I gave you that notion. Often mum's worry when their kids seem sick for lengthy periods and they worry about finances. Glad you sorted things out with her. Sounds like she's actually a pretty good mum.

Hi @Flower88

You sound exactly like me, I'm going through the exact same thing with being dizzy! I don't even know where to begin as this journey has been so long, emotional, scary and frustrating one but right now I feel that it's at its worst.

I never heard the term pppd until u mentioned it so I just looked it up and it describes what I'm going through like a T! I'm getting psychotherapy as my psychologist says it's all anxiety related but still to this day I find it very hard to be convinced by that I could have such debilitating physical symptoms all because of anxiety. I feel that it's the dizziness that causes the anxiety and not the other way around. I get migraines also and have seen a physio for my neck as I thought that's what was causing the problem but it didn't help,

I'm also taking some stuff that my naturopath have me also and I also avoid social events because I'm scared of my dizziness. It's hell on earth. But these days I'm making myself get out there as by avoiding things it will worsen your anxiety.

It's hard to tell people what you are going through when they are not going through it. Im not even sure that my gp understands it and now I want to take the info about pppd to him and show him that this is exactly what I'm going through.

I am stressed everyday because of this and I feel so down and depressed and scared all the time. I mourns my life.

In terms of the anxiety meds, it's meant to reduce your cortisol levels down but to be honest I think it's having little effect on me. My pride and fear of pharmaceutical anti anxiety meds have stopped me from taking them but these days I'm so desperate that if it will alleviate the dizziness then I'm considering taking it.

Work is the hardest for me and I have taken so many days off as sitting still is so hard as I feel like my head is spinning around and this causes more anxiety for me then it's round and round we go.

I would like to connect with you as I've never met anyone that's going through what I'm going through and we could help eachother get through this if you want. Xo

Hi butterfly2016 and happyman, that's for the reply, it's so awful but if you see an ent which is ear nose throat doctor you can get a referral to a rht a rehabilitation therapist, they help you with exercises to help the off balance and dizziness, unfortunately it's still there but it's more manageable, the physical symptoms are sooo crappy, I have now developed breathing issues. 😥 My naturopath said in order to help dizziness you need to help your anxiety. So I'm trying lol

Thanks for your reply.

My psychologist discourages me from going on the Internet to look into my symptoms as she says that's feeding it but I'm just astonished to have found someone else that's going through the same. I have too been told by her that my dizziness is part of my anxiety but it's the dizziness that gives me the anxiety! Can I ask who diagnosed you the Pppd? And other than the rehab is there any other treatment for this condition?

The symptoms are awful, it's taken over my whole life

In terms of your breathing issues I had the same and was shown some breathing Techniques. Breathe through your stomach 5 mins before bed and before you rise and whenever you remember. I had that issue for a while where my breathing was really short and that resulted me from having a few panic attacks which were so scary. But it is manageable.
