Something’s not right

Can't sleep, then can't cope.

Can't sleep, then can't cope.

This is my first post, so not sure how to express my thoughts.

Earlier this year I was diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety. I suppose having never really dealt with childhood sexual abuse and some adult traumatic events, the bucket just overflowed.

Im normally a high functioning lead teacher of Year 11 and Year 12 faculty. Also a wife, mother and grandmother- though one of my children refuses to speak to us or allow us even see a picture of our grandchildren.

But im struggling.

I feel like Im drowning. Finding daily tasks a challenge.

The worst is laying in bed and not being able to switch my mind off. When my eyes are closed it takes me to some dark places. Then with lack of sleep or no sleep functioning struggles to happen.

People at work rely on me to get work done, that I feel I cant take time off or ow down.

Im struggling. Anyone with sleeping advice, I'd love to hear any suggestions.

Thanks for the advice. My workplace have been understanding when I spoke to them, but I dont ever take up on their offer to time off when I need it.

So decided today to do that. Instead of a 4 hour Zoom leader training session, ive taken the afternoon off. Plan is to go for a walk, book my next physch appointment as I keep running out of time in a day to do that and have a afternoon nap.

Thank you for the information.

Loved to know more about the aromatherapy sprays you use. Loved to know what blends. Its something I heard about but not sure where to start with this.

Good on you for taking some time out to get back on track. I hope it helps. Don't be worried about taking further time off to help you recharge. It is great that your workplace is supportive of you doing this.

Hi,

I've used different oils for about 10 years and what I've found is that Lavendar blend is best prior to bedtime.

If you haven't got an oils range ( which couple a diffuser etc), there are some premixed sprays available which you just pump into the air like a spray. If you go to even the supermarket or chemist check out the oils and spray section there are lots there. Some will promote 'sleep'. I have an aroma mist at the moment which has lavender/chamomile and jojoba and I use prior to bed.

All the best 🥰
