Needing Ideas

Needing Ideas

A friend wants to make a documentary on Mental Illness with the aim of replacing fear, ignorance and stigma in our society with more understanding, knowledge and compassion.
From your experience, what angle would you suggest the director/producer take to make this film different from previous documentaries made on this subject?
What issues do you feel are most important?
What elements would you personally like to be featured?
I suggested more education within the school system and also within the police force.
Your ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Jo

That's a great idea, i would love to see a documentary about the real world of mental illness.

I had a bad experience within the system when i tried to report a crime and was diagnosed with a psychotic episode having persecutory beliefs, the police need to listen the victims full story before having them committed and then drugged up so bad with medications..

Hi Eva

That is an excellent and very important point. Having a supportive person when things go wrong or you dont agree with treatment. its very hard to speak up when your afraid and perhaps in somewhat shock at what has juat happened. or heavily medicated at the point you're not sure about anything.
