Sisterhood of victim

Sisterhood of victim

I am not sure this sight is helpful at all. It allows people to indulge in their negative feelings. Does anyone else recognize this?

Re: Sisterhood of victim

Hi @riley, I don't think we've met. I come and go from this site according to how I'm doing and what is helpful and harmful to me at a particular time. Sometimes it's very valuable and other times I feel I need to withdraw. One of the things I like about this place is that that decision is always respected.

Generally speaking, I haven't found it unhelpful to express negative feelings here. In my offline life I keep up the facade of a productive, healthy-enough, professional person. In comparison, I often find it a relief to express the parts of me that are not-okay / not-well on this site.

I suppose this is just a website though and different people can use it in different ways, and perhaps it can interact with people's MI in different ways. If it isn't helpful for you, I don't think anyone would suggest you continue to spend time here.

Kindly, Briar

Hi @riley

I can understand what you mean... however.. i believe that this site gives such a wonderful balance for people to both get support in their worst times, and give ideas and advice that support our wellbeing in their best times... we encourage each other to use good coping strategies, reach for our goals and share in our successes. I can never remember thread names... but if you look under enjoying time with others or looking after our well being you may find more of those positive areas.

Some people choose only to take part in some areas of the forum as part of their own self care as well. I hope that you can find a way to use these forums in a way that is beneficial for you, I know that I have benefitted so much from these forums myself.

Hi Riley

Welcome to the Forum and I am sorry you feel this way, how do you think that the forum could be more helpful to you? Have you read some of SANE's articles or listened to some Podcasts? There is also many views on SANE and we try to allow as much open and honest communication as possible without causing distress to anyone. Feelings being negative or positive are all part of communication that can be helpful, dont you think?

It is great that you have made a comment about what you have recognised - thanks for that.

I find your statement offensive. No indulgence here. A lot of us pick ourselves up and do the right thing regardless of how we are feeling. Some people are not able to develop understanding and compassion and present such ideas are often used as an excuse not to feel empathy for others.

I hope you have a good day.
