'Relations' with a mental health person
Hi all.
I'm not the official carer of a mentally disabled person (and obviously can't be) but what actually are the legal and moral (I suppose) concerns I should have with mutual physical and emotional attractions to a person such as this? This person is independent but obviously has social network of support in house and out, say weekly. But is quite able to have a relationship. I think it is probably one of the main things that push people such as me away from ANY relationship such as this, is it allowed, and if so why do I feel guilty all the time? Does it depend on the severity (we are not talking common conditions like depression or anxiety etc, this is a physical mental dissability, which still allows independence).
Are my concerns not warranted? Is this an outrage to even ask this question? I suspect others may have similar concerns and hesitations as I do and not say anything about it; your forum is my only hope to get advice on this, since I have read a lot of legal jargon and it seems to sway towards not allowed (in my opinion).
