Struggling mum, Please Help!

Struggling mum, Please Help!

Hi all!

I'm new to this group and the whole reaching out thing as I usually bottle things up until I explode, so please bear with me whole I learn the ropes, and hopefully this all makes sense and isn't to much all over the place.

I have just had a baby who is now 3 weeks old and I am struggling hard with my post natal. I'm feeling quiet numb and empty, I'm crying everyday because my baby won't stop screaming/crying. I'm finding it hard to get out of bed and wanting to get on with my day. I'm lonely and none of my friends have bothered to msg to see how I am after having bub.

I just want to run away from all of it. I love my boys (I also have a 3yr old) but I honestly don't know what do to anymore.

How do I fix this? How do I learn to cope before it all becomes to much and it becomes something I can never return from.

Please help me

@Gemma20 reading your reply has given me hope that I will get through this. I'm off to see his doc on Thursday and were going to ask about it but I'll book to see my doc aswell to talk about every thing.

Yes people tell me all sorts of different things and I know they are all trying to be helpful etc but sometimes what they say just makes you feel like a crap parent and you're doing everything wrong etc.

Just know you are not alone. The fact that you are reaching out for help and support shows what a loving parent and person you are. Being a Mother is the most rewarding yet challenging jobs. Every child is different and many people provide well meaning advice but from experience, trust your own mothers instinct as It will never let you down. You've got this! Everytime you feel overwhelmed say to yourself that the sadness you are feeling is only temporary. Be proud that you are reaching out for help and seeing your GP. There is nothing to feel ashamed of by doing so. You would be surprised how many mothers have been where you are....me included My daughter is now an adult. Take care of yourself, try and get some rest and so happy to hear you are seeing your GP Thurs as it is the first step to feeling better 💖

Hi @Mumsie2boys just wanted to say I'm thinking of you. My kids are big now, but the baby days were often overwhelming. @Gemma20 well said. Sleep deprivation really undermines everything. One of mine didn't sleep more than a few hours till well after 2 years and it was so hard. We came through though!

Re: Struggling mum, Please Help!

Hello @Mumsie2boys I hope you are getting some great advice on here. Knowing that others have gone through the same thing always makes you feel less alone.

I am a first time mother of a 7 month old and have perinatal depression. I knew that something was a miss in myself and searched for a psychologist that specialised in this field. I found this site to be very helpful in finding the right person to talk to about post natal depression. https://www.psychology.org.au/Find-a-Psychologist

@Gemma20 has given you some really great information there. You know your child more than anyone and if you feel that something is wrong you keep fighting for your child.

I still experience my ups and downs due to sleep dep and found that being on an anti depressant has really helped me. First speak with your GP though because if you have a good history with them they will know what the best course of action will be.

If you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to ask and give my a @tag so I will get notified. Good luck and know you are not alone.

Re: Struggling mum, Please Help!

I hear yor anguish, and pain. Sadly I have a 25yo, 22yo, and 16yo, and I feel just like you, although having 2 grandsons to the eldest, 1 of whom I have never met, born 23.4.20. Praise3 yourself, parenting isnt easy, relax, enjoy, it will all fall together in time, I am sure, don't be so hard on yourself. Best of luck x
