Feeling confused and lonely

Feeling confused and lonely

I was looking every where articles, readings, books where I could find any answer. I know people have really important things to be worry about, that's why k left everything on a side the last months. However, I can't anymore. I am married, my husband is a great person I love him, he is gentle, cares about me. But I feel we can't communicate. Lastly we are arguing for small things abs this is becoming a routine, we argue then he gets upset there is not talking and the next day like nothing happens. I feel frustrated some times as English is my second language and I want to say what I think assertively.

After apparently every thing is all right again, we get into an arguing again. I decided to tell hi that we really needed to talk, that something wasn't right, that wasn't me or wasn't him, that this is a relation and both need to talk. But he says for me everything is ok you are the one that makes the drama.

I have been thinking about that I started to see what wa any behaviour, I realised that I like things to be done straight, then I started to give him time to do everything in his own time. But things don't change I feel he doesn't understand the meaning of marriage, I feel he thinks marriage and being in a tenager relationship is the same. He goes out with his friends and come back around 2am. I didn't get upset before but I told him that I didn't like that. I trust him I know he is just with his friends, but the time that we depend together is small as we both work full time, when we are together 70% of the time is watching football and then sleeping time. He says nothing happens but he knows is not like that, because every time he has am plan to go out, just the hours before going out he is just an angel. Then I know he is leaving.
He told me if you don't like something just let me know don't just get angry. I did I tried but is not working.

I am sorry if is a mix of things. I wrote things as came from my mind. Also I know about my English. I really want to know what is happening with me I feel sad, bored, frustrated. I want to know what is my problem. This is not me. I have been always that quiet, relax person that every one likes to talk to, I am a hard worker, I am persistent. But when is about my relation I don't know what is happening to me. I don't have many friends and those that I really trust are in a difficult situations that are really more important.

Re: Feeling confused and lonely

Hello @Julia00

I am Australian born with an Australian father but my mother came from Europe and did not have much English.

My parent's relationship was not great, but I have met people who do have good relationships and somehow get over the language barrier.

I felt sad reading your post. I avoid men who watch too much sport. Unfortunately it is very common and many women just accept it. I am active and dont mind playing sport, but if a man does not engage with me, I am not interested in them.

You are probably clear about your partner being more like a teenager ... than a mature man ... in my opinion.

Try and develop a hobby where you are also meeting people and making friends. Try and work on the marriage, but dont get too isolated or blame yourself if he does not change. Keep being the warm outward and friendly person you are. He might miss you and "lift his game." A way of saying he might treat you a bit better.

Guys please post something from your perspective.

Re: Feeling confused and lonely

Hi @Julia00, you sound lonely - find healthy ways to deal with that for you. He certainly is. I think you're right in saying he doesn't understand marriage. And how deflective of him to tell you not to get angry. But its true that once I tense emotion comes into a situation - the brain disengages and the conversation becomes unproductive. Try talking when you're both calm.
Try build fun times together.
Just a couple of thoughts.
Big hug to you, join a group or two, make some friends, keep posting here.
🙂

Re: Feeling confused and lonely

From what I am hearing it sounds like you are both at different levels of emotional maturity, this from what I have seen is common, I can only suggest so much, and have no idea if it would make any overall change at any rate, I have seen it many times, the people grow further and further apart because of it and due to resentments.

My suggestion is that you sit down together at the dining table or whatever and say as best you can what bothers you and why, and then hope the pattern changes, I know it isn't much but all you can do is say what you think is wrong and hope he sees it too.

all the best

Re: Feeling confused and lonely

Thanks to all of you. I have been so busy at work that I didn't have time to get home till late. This was good as i kept my mind busy. This week I decided to do what you guys said . I found a moment where we could talk. He insisted that for him all is good. However, this time I talked more about the behaviours we were having instead of focusing how we are. I also decided to start meeting new people and find a hobby. My mom came to visit us and is leaving in a month, this will be a busy time. I will see how everything goes after that.

Thank you so much, more than finding one solution I wanted to be listened and looking at different points of view is what I need.

Re: Feeling confused and lonely

Definitely i was not in a mood to find other activities, but now that I had a busy week and I my mind got kind of distracted I can see things different and I agree that is the best idea. Thanks
