Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

@WIP ... Sorry you're feeling blah today. As you mentioned, it could be from any one or all of those reasons you mentioned earlier. Lack of sleep, a drink too many, Mum arriving home, psych apt tomorrow. Psych apts are never easy in my personal experience, but worth doing. Why else do we push ourselves to go? Because it does benefit us, least ways it does me. Challenging emotions is particularly tough to try to do or analyse.

Christmas in itself does not pose any particular emotional challenges for me, but I am sorry that it does for you. Most of my challenges and triggers happen in February. Something which has been playing on my mind lately for some odd reason. Silly. I used to always have a small christmas tree I'd set up each year. The niece and nephews and then grandkids used to love it, and I did it for them. But my youngest niece died, her 2 brothers got older, it all seemed senseless then. My grandkids are not usually visiting here on Christmas anyway ... so there just is no point in doing a tree or decorations any more. For me ... christmas is all about kids. So I get that @WIP @Eve7 @Anastasia

@Eve7 ... well done with the cool bath. I know how debilitating it can be with only having one good arm. Everything is an effort. I'm sure you feel nice and fresh and better for having made the effort.

Oh hugs hugs and hugs to you all

I am sorry for your losses around this time of the year, that does make it extremely difficult 😞

@WIP @Eve7 @Emelia8

I do hope Levi loves his little tree L, I wanted to wish you well for your appoointment today. I know they are never easy but I do hope it helps, will be sitting next to to you in spirit. I will try not to sneeze to interrupt 🙂

Eve I too love the smell of a real tree, I can't justify the cost but we have one at work so I am lucky.

Hope you feel better today, not long now till your surgery.

Re: Changing meds

Thanks so much @Anastasia - you're always there when I need you. I was so thrilled to hear of your good day y'day - made me smile.

Im still unsure about putting up my Christmas tree. As @Emelia8 it's mostly for the kids, and they aren't here. I'll throw up a bit of tinsel & maybe flashing lights around the front windows and that will do. I'll ask Mum if she wants the trees put up at her place, as the kids come down mid Jan.

I hope your pain level is ok today @Eve7

Love & hugs to all. ❣️❤️❣️❤️❣️

Re: Changing meds

Tinsel and flashy lights sound good @WIP @Emelia8

No hard and fast rules just something to remind you that it's Christmas. I think Levi will like the tinsel when it sparkles 🙂 I can almost picture his little face 🙂

I bought the white dangly snow ones this year that cover our facade and we have lights on our tree that my boy decorated. On days when I am not feeling great when they come on it makes me smile.

I have time off this Christmas as with Dad being unwell and early on the uncertainty around it I grabbed the opportunity to ensure we make the most of this Christmas. Finally yesterday my bf's family have made plans so I have that to look forward to as well. I cope better with plans in place rather than the "we will do something, not sure what or when" type of thing. My bf usually rushes out last minute and buys for his family. This does my head in as I am super organised, have way less free time than him and yet I get dragged along each year. This year I might not be avalaible to endure it. I will suggest we go sooner although he does have his own agenda. *sigh

hugs and hugs and more hugs x

Re: Changing meds

Yes @Anastasia I love anything sparkly & have for years. But these days it just doesn't bring me as much pleasure as it once did - particularly at Christmas. Bad time of year for me, with Dads passing so quickly & also the beginning of uncertainty with my job, which resulted in redundancy end of March.

Anyway, I have the kids coming down in mid Jan to look forward to! So I have to focus on it being a good thing and control my anxiety, which is sure to raise its ugly and persistent head. I'm petrified they will not recognise me with all the weight I've put on from taking APs.

I'm glad you have time off work organised for over the Christmas period, that's really comforting for you to know that. Although, it sounds as tho your Dad is doing really well, which is fabulous to hear.

It must do your head in with you bf leaving things to the last minute, when you are such an organiser. The pressure is off a bit, with Christmas being at your bf's place. How long have you guys been together?

Hows those blistered fingers of yours going today?

Lots of hugs 💕💖💞💕💖💞

Re: Changing meds

I understand L.

Yes it is not fair that AP's have that effect, I am sorry to hear, My boy suffers as well which is another reason why I am walking daily, he is joining me in the afteroon one and seeing benefit so it's a win win 🙂

Yes, they say opposites attract lol and in so many ways we definitely are! Some good, some not so. I am grateful for his reason, I need that especially when my word is spiralling, he is very good with my boys and a very good role model, one they have missed out on for most of their lives *sigh

Better late than never though as I can already see some of his advice/guidance paying off in their actions. If only we had met a lifetime ago, again *sigh lol

We have been together for three years, we have known "of" each other since we were teenagers but seperate lives up until three years ago. There's comfort in that as I have always felt extremely vulnerable being a single mum. I have had my fair share of shockers over the years so a breath of fresh air.

My hand is ok I had some creme that is incredible and not kidding I can type today! Bit tricky getting them wet as they sting but I am sure by tomorrow I'll be "back to normal".

Have you had your apointment yet?

I am not seeing my therapist till January. Financially I have cancelled this month's appointment as I didn't feel it necessary and I want to go back with the outcomes of what I have implemented as well as touch base once Christmas is over to pick her brain on anything new that pops up as I am sure it will!

I havent mentioned but I bought myself some Christmas clothes and I am going to steam them today, if you like I will pop up a picture once they are steamed? Not sure of what occassion I will wear each of them but I have not bought myself anything for the entire year and had a discount coupon so thought what the heck, it's time.

Just made a cuppa would you like one @WIP @Emelia8 @Eve7 and anyone following?

Re: Changing meds

Lovely @Anastasia

What a great post from you. Can you pls give me a bit of time to reply? I have my psychologist appt at 2pm. I cancelled my psychiatrist for Wed, as I'm not up to seeing him & have another one scheduled for the 23rd.

Im off to try and mentally prepare myself for 2pm. She's really lovely & im so, so glad I finally found a good psychologist (after 6 months searching).

I honestly don't know what I'm worried about, but i am no the less.
