Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

Thanks @Anastasia and I'm so very sorry to be a burden when you have such an important anniversary coming up - I'm sorry. ❣️

Ive done all i can today, and asked to move the appointment - forgetting Monday is a public holiday, so will have to wait till Tuesday, that's ifjj no I hear back at all.

I've approached crisis point and can't calm down. I'll try some of the suggestions you made. I just want to close my eyes and sleep till the anxiety and pain goes away

Re: Changing meds

Hello @WIP

I’m sorry to hear how hard things are for you right now. It sounds like the upcoming appointment combined with your mum being away has made for a really tough time. As @Anastasia has suggested, please reach out to services if you are unable to calm down. Although the SANE chat and helpline is not available on weekends, there are designated crisis services such as Lifeline and the Suicide Call Back Service that are available 24/7, as you probably know.

It’s great to hear that you’re going to try some of the suggestions @Anastasia has made. I hope that helps a little. I will also send you an email to check in.

Take care

Acacia

Re: Changing meds

I'm scared @Anastasia @Former-Member

Laar time I was this uncontrollably upset, I tried 3 different medical facilities with the last one keeping me waiting for 5 hours, only for a psych resident to come and visit for less than a 5 minute assessment and tell me 'I'm not an emergency and he doesn't understand why I'm in the ED'.

ihave no faith in the mental health system and can't keep but wind myself up about seeing this condescending pdoc on Wed morning before my DBT class. He's going to upset me before class & I'll be likely not able to attend.

Whata the point. When Mum is away, it just reminds me how alone I am, and have nothing to live for.

Re: Changing meds

Hi @WIP

I'm sorry to hear how alone you're feeling, and that it feels like there's nothing worth living for. That's such a difficult place to be. From what you have said, you have made it through days like this before. That makes me think you have the strength to do it again.

I have sent you an email. It would be great if you could check your inbox and get back to me.

You're not alone @WIP. There are people here on this forum who really care about you.

Re: Changing meds

Hi @Former-Member

I haven't received your email Unfortunatley.

I just have to try and power through, but it's such a struggle being in so much pain.

Thank you to you and @Anastasia I'LL try to leave you alone now.

I think Lwvinwouls be better off with Mum.

Mum enjoys herself so much more visiting my sister and grandkids and then she returns to the room and gloom of me and my illness. It not fair on her. I can't carry the guilt anymore

@WIP

Just don't go, honestly wait for a new one it's clearly doing you way more harm than good, there will be one that is just the right fit

Re: Changing meds

@Anastasia I'm so tired of the leading up days to my appts with this pdoc, that are dilles

with anxiety and apprehension. He is doing me far more damage than good, my new GP Said that when I saw her last week.

he makes me feel guilty for being ill, talks down to me and doesn't 'manage' my illness, just adds to it.

He's the one who kept prescribing my AAs &

now I have a problem and because the new female pdoc I saw for one appointment went back to him and said get her into hospital and off these drugs and follow up with an addiction specialist. It's so overwhelming and I don't have money to pay for this.
im petrified of him and just wish I could find another pdoc. But that process is so long winded. I don't have any more patience left. This pain I feel in the lead up to seeing him lasts for days and distorts my thinking & sleeping.
