Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Hey @Bow

Not particularly. Just taking it day by day.

Can't sleep at night, even though I take enough meds to knock a horse out I reckon.

Hope you are doing ok today?

No plans for the weekend @Bow

Just a Chiro appt 2mrw.

Its going to be really hot again 2mrw - I don't like the heat much these days.

What are you up to on the w/e? How's your daughter enjoying school. Is she making lots of friends?

Re: Changing meds

oh i dont like the heat either @WIP very thankful that we have had a much milder summer this year.

my daughter is at her fathers all day tomorrow, i will go and wander the shops for a bit, maybe treat myself to something..... ya know, self care and all. its a long anxious day without my mini me. and then church sunday.

on monday i have a telehealth appointment with a psychiatrist through the PHN. it happened very quickly, was expecting to be waiting for a while. i still have to drive to a medical centre for the appointment though.

Re: Changing meds

That's great news about the psychiatrist @Bow

I hope it goes well.

Good idea about filling in your day at the shops while your mini me is with her father. Treat yourself to something nice - you deserve it.

Re: Changing meds

my gp has been great @WIP very helpful and always looking at other options. when i have zero hope of things changing, she keeps giving me tiny bits of hope. im trying to be positive about this pdoc, but im not overly hopeful about it.

My gp put through another referral yesterday to the PHN for a mental health nurse? ive not heard of that before, just thought that they worked in the psych wards and community health. not sure exactly what the purpose of it will be, but im just going with what she thinks is best.

it is one thing that i have enjoyed since my daughter started school, interuption from window shopping! i dont need to provide endless snacks and no whinging to go home : )

Re: Changing meds

That's great of what your gp is doing for you @Bow She believes in you, so just go with what ever help she is offering.

Fingers crossed you are pleasantly surprised with this new pdoc - you never know.
I don't know how the mental health nurse fits into the process, but take all the help you can get I say!!

Things are looking up for you in regards to your medical support network.
