I can't say how bad I feel

I can't say how bad I feel

Does anyone else have trouble putting it into words when you need help? I haven't felt as bad as I do now for over 12 months. I have been slipping for the past 3. This week, I haven't gone to work, I stay at home, cry and sleep. I showered yesterday and it was a big thing. My partner is snoring next to me and I'm typing this with tears streaming down my face. I can't face going to work but also can't handle not having the money? I suffer with a chronic back injury and fought for this job but I'm ready to throw it away. I can't tell my partner how I feel I don't want her to carry the burden. I feel like she is the only thing that can make me smile. I had my antis upped a week ago but it will be a while. I don't know what to do anymore

Re: I can't say how bad I feel

Hi @Blackclouds,

Just said hello in Night Shift and then saw your post here. I have been in places too where I have found it very hard to put into words how I am feeling. That's when I feel I'm at my worst. It sounds like you legitimately need time off work given the state of unwellness you are in at the moment. Is it possible to go to a GP and get a certificate to give you a bit of breathing space? That way the AD dosage change might have a chance to kick in a bit before you go back to work again. It seems to me that would be a better way of dealing with things than quitting a job you have fought to have.

Whatever you decide, you've taken a good step coming online here and talking even when you may not feel like it. Really wishing you well.

Re: I can't say how bad I feel

Thanks @Mazarita. My Gp is brilliant, has her for the last 4 years and she can pick where I'm at by my expression. She's pregnant though and almost due so not around much. My last appointment (before I saw another GP and had my mess changed) she wanted me to go to work and hand in my notice.

She has wanted me to quit for over 6 months now, I can't handle a full time job. I worked out an agreement at the start to do 4 days per week but lately can't handle that. It's too hard on my back. Then I get in this cycle of being disappointed in myself etc.

I didn't hand I my notice, another dept was looking at putting me on part time so I held on but that job never eventuated. So I'm feeling a little lost about work.
I have about 2 weeks leave I can use, and more than anything I would love to take it as of Monday. And then try and sort myself out. But I can't face saying why I need it, I know I won't. I'm not a big sharer. I almost asked my partner to do it for me tonight but the words didn't come out.
I just feel like I have nothing left but if I walk away not feeling like I ended it properly or finished the job I started I know down the track I will beat myself up

Hi @Blackclouds, I just saw this post too following it over from night shift. Do you have to give a reason to take time off work? Can you sight personal reasons. It seems like some time off is what you need. Probably just throwing the obvious out there. In my experience asking for help sometimes is the hardest thing but the most needed. I'm so sorry things are so tough for you now. Hopefully the increased Meds will help but it also feels like you need some time to care for yourself too. 💜😊

Re: I can't say how bad I feel

Hi @Blackclouds. No you don't need to divulge personal information to take some time off. Just personal or famiky reasons is enough for them to know.
Full time work is hard . I get that you're happy you git the job but after taking it you realised it's too much physically and emotionally.
Can you talk to the boss and exllain that to him / her. She might be willing to decrease the days and hours for you.
I also think you need to look let your partner be there for you. She can only do it if you open up and tell her everything. Maybe she could go to the gp with you

Re: I can't say how bad I feel

Good morning, @Blackclouds. I'm not working now but have had many situations like the one you describe in the past. In most of those I have actually left the job. But I hear that a part of you still seems to want to hold on to this one. How about going to the doctors today and asking for a couple of weeks off to allow the meds to kick in and starting lifting you out of this hard place. I agree with @Former-Member and @utopia that it's not necessary to specify to work what exactly is the problem. But, if you feel you need to give some specific reason, you could blame it on your back if you feel unable to reveal the mental health issues. I understand why you might be grappling with that, by the way. Like the others, I also feel that your partner would want to know what you are struggling with and is likely to want to be of assistance. Glad you have reached out to us on the forum overnight. Look forward to hearing how you go with things. Kind wishes.
