Roaring Sielience

Roaring Sielience

I sit here listining to the ringing in my ears, there is nothing else to fill them apart for the tapping of the computer keys. I am alone, always alone, as true as it is to say that you are never alone with schizophrenia, you are always alone with depression. A motor vehicle accident finished my working life, wife left, fourty four surgeries and twelve years later, I sit alone. No one wants to be matie with a disabled person, especially to a 58 year old male one. Kids grown up and moved on, I have a great relationship with them, when I see them. What is left in life for me, to sit alone? When your arms don't work well and a man cave is useless to you all that is left for excitement is to watch your finger nails grow and yes, I do that alone as well it makes for a very isolated existance indeed. I am so tired of putting on the happy face for everyone else but I can never put it on for me. I am so tired of crying, I am so tired of not being able to talk to some one, relate to some one, laugh with some one, love with some one and give respect to some one.

So what is left, I have done my job as a human, the meaning of life is to reproduce, once that has happened and you are again alone, the is no meaning any more.

Just sitting in sielence here, thinking.......

Sorry to hear you are so alone. @Aspro.
Do your children live far away?
What do you do during the day?
Night times are the worst times to be alone. Feel free to chat. There's always someone on here to chat to.

Re: Roaring Sielience

@Aspro Have a look around on here. There's different places you can chat to people. Like I said there's people on here all sorts of times, even during the night. I hope you can find your way around on here. Have a read of people's messages here and there and see if you'd like to join in. 😊

Re: Roaring Sielience

Hi @Aspro,

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds really tough what you have been through in the past and are going through now. Many of us here on the forum experience isolation in one way or another, whether it's being relatively alone in life as you describe or not being able to relate to 'normal' people because of mental health issues. Even if there's not a place to speak our true minds in the 'real world', we are able to do that with each other here. As @Former-Member has already suggested, take a look around and respond to any discussions you relate to. We are a friendly and supportive bunch. Hope to hear more from you. Kind wishes.

I have to say goodnight now, my eyes are too tired.
I hope you find someone to have a chat with @Aspro.
Nighty night to you too @Mazarita 💜

Night, @Former-Member, sleep well. 🙂

I'm still around for a while, @Aspro, if you feel like some company for a little while. 🙂

Re: Roaring Sielience

Hi @Aspro. Loneliness is so hard to cope with. I understand. It's also hard when you feel you are nothing, because you are no longer working.
I wonder what type of work you did. Even if you can't physically do the work, maybe you could volunteer to mentor others (especially in the same field of work). Just an idea.
I'm going to argue with you now. I don't think the meaning of life is to reproduce. That makes us sound too much like animals, but without any soul or values / morals.
Just think of all the things you have done in your life. Things you are proud of. People you met. People you helped. Sunrises and sunsets. The sound of rain on a tin roof. Teaching your children to read. Teaching them what it means to be a man. The friends and co-workers you have helped. The serenity you feel on a sunny Autumn day with your face turned to the suns rays.
Life isn't about reproducing. It's about living and learning and loving and teaching.
These things are not to be denied to you because you are depressed or because you are single. Your children will still learn things from you. Your children will still love you.
You @Aspro still have a lot of life left in you. Time to find some things that bring you joy. Maybe time to learn a new hobby. Time to volunteer. Keep your heart open. Once you start living again, you just might meet someone special. Who thinks you're special too.
I wish you the best.

Re: Roaring Sielience

Thanks Utopia for your comments. I am a boilermaker, a pressure welder, workplace trainer and assessor, TAFE lecturer and scuba diving instructor, both day and night. A motor vehicle accident finished my involvement with all of these vocations. Because I was unable to do this work again, or any manual activity all the friends I had built up over the years through work and socializing left me as I spent many months recovering from many surgeries. I tried to keep the friendships going but was always left behind as I could not contribute. I was working as a titanium welder building submarines for some very high wages. This stopped and so did he life style for my wife. When it became evident i would never return to the workforce, she found greener pastures but not before physically abusing me for a few years before she left with my then best friend. So many years later, I still sit alone. The mental anguish over all of this compounded the depression I have endured sine I was very young.

Volunteering, I moved to a warmer state upon advice from many surgeon. New life, I threw myself into the deep end and volunteered at an aged care facility, somewhere I have never been before. I loved ever minute of the three days a week i was there. the residents, especially the male ones appreciated the one on one visits i had with them, Scrabble was popular. I sold my home and moved to a new town. I went to the local aged care facility with four years experience as a volunteer in this area under my belt looking for work. They were delighted for me to work there but it would cost me five dollars a day for which I get a meal provided. I asked not to get the meal but to "keep their books straight" the will still charge me five dollars a day. Being a pensioner, i cannot afford that and fuel for the half hour drive there. I still sit alone.

I am now the body corporate president which gives me a bit of work to do, mainly organizing. i see many happy families and couples and I interact with them as president and then go home to an empty cold unit and sit alone.

I went to the local men's shed but as always I was pushed to the outer extremities as my arms do not work and I can not contribute. To look at me you will be hard pressed to find a disability and as such I am judged harshly by many people. Because of this you tend not to search for others for fear of more ridicule and heart ache.

I know where I am at, I know how to move forward, I just simply do not have the wanting to do this. I am tired of fighting, I am tired of surgeries and quite frankly, I have moved on the the next level of dispare and am now tired of being tired. I have years to go as I don't give in easily but I know that this depression and disablement will be my ultimate demise.

Thanks for you time to read this waffle.

Re: Roaring Sielience

@Aspro. It's not waffle. It's your reality, your life. Thank you for sharing your personal story. I too lost all my work mates when I got sick. It's depressing that they don't seem able to stick around.
I understand your depression seems to have settled in strongly. That makes it hard. I do hope that things get better for you. And I'm sorry I'm unable to say anything of comfort to you

Re: Roaring Sielience

Hey mate, sounds like you're doing really well considering all the shit you've been through 😊
I can definitely relate to how you are feeling as I've been trying to beat the black dog for most of my life. If you want someone to chat to I'm here for you ok. And you are doing an amazing job with the hand you've been dealt. Keep on trucking!!

Re: Roaring Sielience

Thank you kindly MargeS1980 for your comments, it is rather strange for me to read (hear) positives about me without them being meanless, misplaced or shallow. Having dealt with dark clouds most of your life, perhaps you can understand. I do not let depression run my life, however it is always there waiting for me to be alone or for night time to bring out the dark clouds within my mind. Being alone for so long makes you very selfish as you do not have to share. I have no problem sharing everything in my life, with the correct person, but I an not willing to put my depression on someone else, which is probably the reason I have not met a person to be matie with. Being male and not drinking alcohol doesn't help my situation either, not to mention my limited abilities. Not that l am whinging here, you live with what you have and be gratefull for having that. 😋 Aspro...
