Anxiety - Depression- DID

Anxiety - Depression- DID

Hi all,

I suffer From Anxiety, Depression, DID, etc

I have been suffering with anxitey all my life and then the depression and DID came in this year along with some other mental health issues. It was very scary at the start because I spent the start of February in and out of hospital & recovery units just to try and get myself to a more stable place.
I then was starting to get better and it all went downhill again.... I was struggling, I didn't know much about DID at that stage. I had no supports either. I was using helplines a lot.
I still use them every known again if needed.
I found it very hard to open up to people and to trust people because I had been hurt so many times and unheard at times.
I have survived my own mental health at the age of 16 without help... Then at the age of 17 I had started to book my own GP appointments because I was going downhill.
My GP has been my main support through all my hospitalisations. She has never given up on me and she is still working with me till this day.

Then I got myself back to a more stable place when I got my support team in place. They are teaching me how to manage with everything that goes on around me and how I feel after a really stressful situation.
I am now 6 weeks clean from SH & being hospitalised. I want to keep it going because now I'm starting to see that there is hope.

I have a few quotes that keep me going -

Don't just survive — fight for your future

Hope is real & change is possible

When it's dark, be the one who turns on the light.

Good morning @StillIrise,

It took some time to get used to DID, I still am getting used to it. My alters are constantly switching my im in distress or I'm unsafe. I have 3 safe alters and 1 unsafe alter. I like to keep with my safe alters because they won't let me do anything I regret...

im here if you want to have a chat about it

Hi @Fluttershy1

Thank you for tagging me.

It takes a lot of courage and strength to manage our own mental health and you have done it from such a young age. You should be proud of that.

I am glad you have such a supportive and caring gp, it does make a difference when we have a good support system behind us.

Well done on being 6 weeks clean of SH and hospital. I myself just got out of hospital last week after 6 weeks in there.

I love those quotes @Fluttershy1 😁

@Snowie - it's so hard to not SH when I'm extremely stressed or when my unsafe alter comes in for a visit.
I just need it to get eaiser while I'm unwell so I don't stress myself out more....

@Sylvester- it's really hard for me at the moment. I'm just take steps in a way that won't make me worse. I keep switching alters which is scary because I go in distress when I'm In a panic attack and I've been trying my coping strategies but sometimes they don't even work....
I don't want to go back to where I had started because I never used to reach out and now I reach out and look after myself *even though I have been looking after my own mental health since the age of 16* now I have got myself a whole support team by the age of 18 and I'm coping a lot better and I don't give into my thoughts and I reach out when needed..

@Fluttershy1 Im actually giving up work as a carer because I can no longer and cannot cope it's my turn.

as sad as it is it se4ms to me that there was very little support when I worked

this forum is a Godsend because I'm hibernating at home unless at my appointments

f

For me I couldn't fake it till I make it anymore , trauma from a small child, disbelieving parents and 32yrs in an abusive, narcissistic marriage trying to protect me my 4 kids, and live with the voices

when I left, took back me, it's all started imploding

the drives I take and don't remember, the paperwork to keep me , ha in control.

i hope and trust that we find and stop battling us and the world

its the first time in 15 yrs that I can't work and know I have to take the steps to begin fresh and hopefully wellness. That is my hope for all on here who are brave enough to speak, it also gave me the chanc4 to speak

thank you

Hey @StillIrise,

I have been through abuses and assaults it's not easy, I've been to hospital 4 times this year due to being sucidal, I'm no longer sucidal I've been 6 weeks clean from SH & hospitalisations.
I have my really bad days and that's when I don't want to do anything but hide in my room.
I suffer from Anxiety,Depression, panic, trauma,DID,eating disorder, acute stress reaction, PTSD and I suffer from a disability.
I get stared at in public and on public transport. I'm only getting support now. The world can be a scary place at times but it won't last forever.
i won't leave the house unless I'm with my support worker or attending appointments.

I went through a lot aswell when I was a child. I grew up way to quickly. I had to start taking care of myself at the age of 16, I'm now 18 and making my own appointments and organising my life. I got my GP last year due to me really struggling. This year I got my NDIS and more of a support team who is really helpful.
I have 2 little alters who are safe I have 1 teenage alter who is safe. 1 unsafe alter who is a teenager.
My parents don't believe that I suffer from MH issues they say I'm faking it when I'm not. They haven't helped me they have lied to me and all of that. Now I really only trust my support team and helplines. You guys aswell!
But don't give up there is still hope waiting for you!
I'm here if you ever need a chat as I understand.
take care

Re: Anxiety - Depression- DID

@StillIrise - have you tried making a safe space in your house? If you haven't it's worth it, that's what I had to do to start gaining my sense of safety back. I also have made a sensory box.

@Fluttershy1

My room and my unit with fence around and gate is my fortress

feel safe and unharmed or harassed there.

music and lots of self talk because where I worked let me down and I can't even c0nsider going back till I'm even over the first hurdle and it won't be there and it won't be for a long while
