Newbie

Hi.

New here and nervous.

I'm 28 and have been struggling with depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD and at one point a bit of DPD (if that makes sense) for roughly 17 years. I have just quit another job due to my struggles mentally and physically.

I am so scared that I once again have done the wrong thing, so here I am hoping to read that others understand and have done the same or similar.

I guess more positive things about me would be that I have two cats, I love cooking/cleaning and I love horror movies.

I am happy to share my experiences if it means that it will help someone else feel less alone 🙂

Thanks for having me.

Hey @Former-Member, welcome to the SANE forums!

It's great to have you here and thanks for telling the community a bit about yourself. I'm sure the forum members will be able to offer you support, information and connection I'm the moderator this evening. Feel free to ask the SANE forum team or the members if you need help with how to use the forum. You might like to check out the Guidelines as they can be a pretty useful in understanding how it all works https://saneforums.org/t5/help/faqpage#community-guidelines. Take care

Re: Newbie

Hi @Former-Member and welcome to the Sane forums.

I too was nervous when I first came here. But I feel sure you will find the members here to be very friendly, welcoming and supportive.

So have a browse of the sections of the forum that interest you, and feel free to post a reply on any other thread. Your input will be appreciated.

I share a number of your diagnoses ... PTSD and OCD, together with the anxiety typical of both, and bouts of depression.

You mentioned DPD ... I am not familiar with this disorder, but was wondering if it stands for Dependant Personality Disorder?

If you want to reply to any specific member (as I have done for you) type in an @ and a drop down list will come up of the most recent posters. Just select the one you want. That means I will get a notification that someone has responded to me.

Again .. welcome. And I hope you find the forum experience to be of benefit to you.

Sherry 😀

Re: Newbie

DPD - disassociative personality disorder...I think it's called disassociative identity disorder. I never looked into it too hard because it was a very brief time in my life. It was used to loosely describe how I was acting at one point and I wouldn't know what other term to use.
Sorry if it was confusing.

Re: Newbie

Oh okay @Former-Member , thanks for the clarification on the DPD. That makes sense of course. Many people with PTSD dissociate, I know I do sometimes. But I wasnt aware of the specific disorder, on the state itself.
