New

Hello I am Edwina. New to this site. I'm not even sure if I'm posting in the right place 😬 I hope so or if not someone will point me in the right direction.
I joined because I'm living with an adult child with undiagnosed mental health issues. I'm struggling.

I love gardening and listening to audio books as well as cooking.

Re: New

I’m wondering what sort of support is available for parents? We completed a ‘Staying Connected’ course but it seemed more geared towards the young person knowing and accepting their behaviours were unacceptable and their was dialogue able to take place. We don’t have that and are finding it increasingly difficult to manage. Any suggestions please?

Re: New

Hi and welcome, @Edwina ! I'm sorry to hear you're struggling.

I'm wondering what professional supports you have in place, to help you at this time? E.g. GP, or maybe counselling? People here can certainly support you as well, but only as peers with lived experience. Feel free to write more about your struggles, there are people here to listen.

There is also the "Friends, Family and Carers" Forum you can post on if that's more your focus...click on "Forums Home" in the top left of the screen, then scroll down. You can post on both forums if you like!

A handy forum tip is to type @ and then click on a member's name in the drop-down box - that way they'll get a notification that you're replying to them.

I hope you enjoy exploring the forums, and get a lot out of them.

Maybe the Friends, Family and Carers Forum that I mentioned would be the best place to ask this question? (I have no idea about it, I'm afraid!)

Good luck. @Edwina

@Edwina

Lovely for you to join us at Sane Forums.

Just to introduce myself, I'm @jem80. I'm a community guide in training hear at the Sane Forums. You have come to the right website.

If your concerns are about your adult child with mental health issues, you may find the friends, family and carers forum at Sane Forums a better place for you.

Link: https://saneforums.org/t5/Friends-Family-Carers-Forum/ct-p/carers-forum

The forum for Friends, Family and Carers forum is a supportive place for those that are looking after, caring or supporting a loved one or someone close to them with mental health issues or living with a mental illness.

You May find a supportive "ear" in the friends, family and carers forum that may have similar experiences.

When I was diagnosed with a mental illness and was hospitalised, my family went through an acute emotional time. I know forums and workshops for friends, families and carers helped them immensely getting through what can only be described as an emotional maze.

Let me know if you have trouble finding the forum through the link I have provided.

Take care.

@Dee62 it's so sad. I feel as though there is no one to help or who understands. Some days I just can't stop crying.

Re: New

Hi I am new here not that new have been posted a couple of posts. I am presently living alone and I am trying to find how to start with a conversation over here so that it can keep me occupied .I have this problem of hearing voices and its so intense that if I touch myself. They threaten me and I personally am scared of touching myself cause I may not slap myself out of fear. I am really looking forward to have conversation with people who have the same problem of hearing voices it might make me at a lil ease. Cause I think it will be good to interact just let things out and get some confidence.
