Re: Morning has broken

The sun is shining here too @Bow so who knows what is going to happen next?!

pdoc is helping me with my safety plan and I still have my psych visits and the Acute Care team will be available so I should be ok.

I’m glad your support group was good and it’s understandable that you were tired afterwards.

I’m sorry you feel abandoned again and I really hope you are contacted soon. Can you try and call them?

Lots of hugs

Re: Morning has broken

Hi @Bow ,

Thank you for sharing. I remember when I used to attend support groups and felt absolutely buggered after. It was draining! However, as I thought about it, I often had to say to myself "if I feel buggered, it means the support group had an effect on me". Do you see it that way too? No need to answer if you don't feel up to it.

Also, in terms of your CM not getting back to you, I'm sorry to hear that. I acknowledge the strength it takes to even reach out in the first place! And to not hear back can feel shattering. This has happened to me in the past, but positive self-talk helped me through it.

Despite feeling left-out, isolated and forgotten, I came up with reasons as to why my CM may not have gotten back to me. Then the next time i spoke to my CM, I will tell them my thoughts and we would talk through it.

Would that help?

Take Care. Waiting to hear from you,

tyme

Hey @tyme

I guess I am getting a little more out of this group than I originally thought I would. And it’s often the case that I am either talking about the same kinda stuff with my psychologist…, or even something here on the forums. Today we were talking about something and I thought…. I was saying the same thing on the forums yesterday.

My case manager ended up calling back really late. She has been flat out all day. I wasn’t able to tell her what I needed to though 😩 don’t know if it was cause I was too scared to, or because I knew she had had a busy day and I didn’t want to ad to it on knock off time.

Re: Morning has broken

With group therapy, persevere @Bow . It's hard, especially at the best of times.

I never thought I'd go into group therapy - I hated the thought of it. But now, having done it, it has been the best thing I've ever done. I grew so much out of it.

Naturally, my tendency is to avoid group/social things. So for me to attend group therapy is HUGE. Making myself attend each week was like breaking my will - eventually for the better.

Group therapy has been a life saviour for me. I don't think I'd be who I am today if I didn't endure the weekly sessions.

I'd be happy to follow your group therapy progress if you'd like. Sometimes, it good to have someone who has been through it.

Re: Morning has broken

Hey @Snowie how are you doing today?

@tyme it’s pretty big for me to be going to group too. I don’t do groups much. Too many people wanting to know too much stuff about what inside for me. I struggle enough getting words out with 1:1 supports. Some people are really suited to it, like pretty much everyone else in my group. I really struggle with and feel overwhelmed with how much people share about their lives. They do a weekly check in, you just share how your week has been. No limits really on what you share. It’s an 8 week group and everyone else has attended multiple times before so they all know each other and it’s like they are just chatting with a friend.

will see how I go with it all. Only 3 weeks left I think.

Re: Morning has broken

Yeah, @Bow , I felt a bit that way with group. But over time, when someone shares, I learnt to be in a 'curious' frame of mind and sit the the feeling of 'not knowing'.

My group sessions ran weekly for about 2 years. I had my ups. I had my downs. I had my round and rounds.

By the end of the 2 years, conversations were much less about me, but more about sharing a situation and then listening to how others would respond.

It seemed like a social chit chat. But it was so well facilitated that by the end of the therapy, I was a different person!

All the best @Bow ! It's be great to hear how you go with your last 3 sessions - no pressure if you don't feel like sharing though 😉
