Re: Morning has broken

OH you were @Eve7 ?!

Im not sure when we will get to travel now. We have flight credits to use, but who knows if we will get to use them. We had such a lovely holiday booked.

She certainly had a way with telling her story, her life and has moved a lot of people. Was just thinking of that movie, think it’s called the fault in the stars or something like that... girl could hardly breath, but pushed through and climbed all the stairs at the AF house cause she wanted to see it. I hope I get there some day.

I was booked on a river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam with 6 friends

@Bow but I ended up getting a refund. We weee also going to Prague and UK.

I’ll be happy if I can go to Adelaide next month!

Anne Frank was amazing for her age and with such mature insight. She’s definitely one of my heroes. We were going to see her house as well as Corrie Ten Boom’s.

Good you got out for a walk @Eve7

I managed to get 2 loads of washing done without any rain here. Just cooking some homegrown pumpkin to make pumpkin scones. Apart from that, it's been quiet here. Watching some series on tv. Found a Kath and Kim that I hadn't seen.
Feeling really bored, but not up to going anywhere today. Hopefully tomorrow I will feel like it. 🥰

Oh that sounds lovely @Eve7! The sights would be amazing!

We had UK and Disneyland booked, got everything refund too except flights which weren’t with virgin and they went into administration so stuck with credits. Trying to see the positive... more time to save, although travel will probably be more expensive and miss 5 will be older and will remember more of it.

And yes interstate travel would would be amazing!

Re: Morning has broken

Hi @Eve7 @Bow I have been to Anne Frank's house and Mathhausen in Austria. It is the quietest place I have ever been - not a bird singing or wind blowing - just still and eerily quiet. You could certainly feel the pain and horror that went on there.

I did my English final literature essay on the Holocaust - called it To Be a Butterfly... as a tribute to the children in Theresienstadt. Also referred to Corrie ten Boom's story from 'The Hiding Place' @Eve7 .

I could go on and on with this subject...

Re: Morning has broken

I could too @Zoe7 . I’ve been to a little place in Romania dedicated to those in the Holocaustos and we were going to so many more places on our trip that was cancelled. Just thinking about it gives me the horrors.

I am bored and miserable @Former-Member but I’ve downloaded Anne Frank’s Diary so that should stop today’s pity party 🎈

Have you been to the Sydney Jewish Museum and/or the Jewish Holocaust Centre in Elsternwick @Eve7 I have been to both and had personal guided tours from Survivors of the Holocaust - truly inspiration women.

@Eve7 You night like Hannah Goslar Remembers too. Hannah was a friend of Anne Frank's and they met up at Bergen-Belsen - where Anne died but Hannah survived. They secretly spoke to each other through the fence in the concentration camp and Hannah gave Anne socks and bread.
