I was out running with friends and saw someone from work but I couldn’t remember her name. I asked “what’s your name my memory isn’t too good?” Her response in front of my friends was “oh is that because of all the shock treatment you’ve had?” She then stood there laughing while I was stunned. Only one of my friends knew I’d had ect and I just was stunned. I don’t know how this person knew anything about my mh issues.
I’m a mess

oh @Eve7 that must have been really hard for you. No wonder you are a mess sweetheart, I would be too.
It is extremely hard when people say things about our mental health and our treatments, especially when they think it is funny.
I know it is hard not to take it personally, but please remember that this person has no clue what they are talking about. The are uneducated and ill informed. They are not a friend becasue real friends would not say that.
Remember this is not your fault. ECT has robbed me of so many memories too and it is hard at times to remember things that happened in the past, especially names of people. But without ECT we probably wouldn't be here.
Am here with you hun, sitting right next to you giving you some much needed hugs💕💕

Thanks for understanding @Snowie
I am going to work on Monday as I’ve been offered a role I thought I could do and now I’m wondering what has been said about me.
This has complicated it all. I think I’ll get in the pool and have a good cry...again.

@Eve7 I am sure they wouldn't have given you the role if they didn't think you could do it.
Hoping the pool helps, sometimes a good cry can be helpful too, get all the emotions out.

Thanks for your support @Snowie and you’re right about ECT. We wouldn’t be here without it.
I just called my work manager and she assured me no one will have that sort of information about me in the area I’ll be working.
We are fairly certain who has talked about me and that will be addressed.
I’ll be leading a recruitment panel over the next 3 weeks. Two days the first week for shortlisting then interviews etc for the following two weeks but only 3 days each week.
I’m still very fragile and the past few days have been really rough but I think I can do it. Now or never.

Hey @Eve7
No we wouldn't be here without the ECT, so I guess memory loss is a small price to pay.
Super glad your manager will address this issue with this person. Great to hear that you have that kind of support on your side.
You have shown so much courage and strength hun through all of this. You should be super proud of yourself after everything you have gone through in the last few months.

I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the support of people like you @Snowie I am so grateful for finding this forum and meeting you to share our ECT journey.
I will always be here cheering you and our other friends on.
There’s been a breech if confidentiality somewhere at work and I think the only reason this will be addressed is that they’re scared I’ll go on work cover and have it backdated. I won’t ever trust them.
