You're more than welcome @Eve7 I'm glad I have helped make a difference. ECT is not a pleasant thing to go through, but if the benefits shine through for you - it's worth it.
unfortantely, it didn't help me, but increased my anxiety to a whole new level - I became a different person.
My ECT experience was horrific - in many ways - the main two being, they zapped me at the high voltage I was on from my first admission, for my first session during my second admission. They couldn't work out why I was so hysterical for so long after. I begged to be sedated. It wasn't until one of the nurses checked my chart and saw the error.
Then every time I cam out of the anasetic, I'd be in full on tears and require ant- anxiety meds to calm me down - so every second day was traumatic and the in between day, I spent it worrying about the next day, cause I knew how I'd react.
I haven't been too crash hot today Unfortunatley, fighting battles in my head. Need to concentrate on the here and now and what I have control over.
easier said than done. xx

Yes @WIP it is all easier said than done. My experience with ECT this time has been difficult but there has been no other option. I have been monitored closely and sedated a few times so I just hope it’s been worth it.
I’m sorry you had such a bad experience. I’ve seen some people improve dramatically after 2-3 sessions...not my experience.
I hope you can do something fun today my friend such as take Levi for a walk.
Big hugs

Thanks for mentioning that we all have different things to offer each other @Appleblossom
Cause I through thoughts of doubt of if I'm a help or hinderance being on the forum. I'm no where close to the beginning of my recovery, so am very much in need of help, rather the one offering it.
Im learning to pull back, when I'm beginning to get needy.
Just wanted to let you know i appreciated your comment - thanks,

Good Luck again
@Eve7
Being on the forum has been a support to me, and a learning and a privilege to share ideas and stories. My ex husband and I were told my son would be getting ECT but somehow he settled and they changed their mind. My mother had it in the 1960s, my father may have had it idk. Mother reported at end of her life that she was glad she had it, as it jolted her out of depression. She did function, but emotional things were always off the table. It brings up a great deal for me, just the thought of it. My siblings did not have it. Their struggles occurred before the newer ECT protocols. Maybe it would have helped. I do know it has changed and the amounts are not as high. I do not fully understand the whys and wherefores about it.
@WIP I do not think I have particularly recovered from anything, it has just been a life long struggle. My parents went AWOL to psych wards when I was 6. I wondered if I had caused it at times, but I really was far too anxious not to rock any boats and help out with the 3 younger kids. I honestly doubt it. In order to justify NDIS support I am being encouraged to accept a serious diagnosis, which I am not against. They are not really sure what it is tho. Apparently no signs of active psychosis. Inside I feel madder than the hatter and all the bats in the belfry.
Over the years, I have see traumatic things whilst visiting. You dont have to say, but I will hold sacred space for whatever it was. Some other soul having an extra hartd time.

I'm sorry you feel madder than the hatter and all the bats in the belfry. Your explanation of how you feel did give me a giggle though - not laughing at you, but your comical description.
You do write very well.@Appleblossom
I don't think I will particularly recover either - I've been battling along for nearly all of my adult life - and now beginning to concede there will
always some form of challenge or struggle. That's just life really. Ups and downs, good times, bad times - mine a just skewed to the negative side.
I just draw the short straw when it comes to mental illness.

Dear @Eve7 ... I think I owe you an apology. 😔💕 From some posts I read from you earlier, I am concerned that a post of mine (about coming out of anaesthetic) may have been triggering to you. Please accept my apologies. I am truly sorry. I hope you are okay.
@Shaz51 ... Yay! Really glad to hear that you got your hair done today. It can definitely give us a much needed boost. I know it did me last week when I did the same. Although right now, my hair is a mess. I want a nice shower and hair wash, but dont feel up to it right now. Also concerned about getting the dressings wet, as they need to stay in place for 10 days. I will have to work something out over coming days.
Hi @Appleblossom @WIP @Snowie
@Anastasia ... worried about you beautiful, as you have been very quiet. I know you were very stressed about an upcoming meeting relating to your son. Perhaps you've updated a thead somewhere, if so I have missed it. Notifications have not been working the past 2 days, so I feel I am not up to date.
