My dear .....good friend commits suicide.

My dear .....good friend commits suicide.

Hello All,

Yesterday, my husband and I drove to our families friend's home here in Western Australia to offer support. He committed suicide.

It was from undiagnosed MI...Last week, hs wife had suddenly passed away the day before from an annorysm (bleed on the brain)

His family is made up from 4 children, all my age, I grew up with them and when we got there, his Mother even remembered my husband from Kindy school!! They had curried egg sandwiches and cake waiting for us. My husband went to the unit down the back to support the youngest brother and I stayed with his parents.....we were so welcomed and loved......

All these years, I so wished that my friend's Mother was MY Mother....how can such a SAD thing happen to such a beautiful family???

thankyou in advance from anyone who replies,

PP x

Hey @PeppiPatty I barely know what to say, except that I hope you and his mother and brother and all who were close to your friend find the peace that you need, Sending a big Hug

@PeppiPatty

I am so sorry to read this - suicide is such a terrible thing - how does anyone recover from this

It's 30 years today since my son took his own life - from this point of view I can only say this is a terrible thing

There is a sudden death and a violent death and the stiga that goes along with it

Those unfortunate young people - losing both of their parents so close together 😞

Poem

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there; I did not die.

Dear PeppiPatty. Please accept my sincerest condolences at your sad and tragic loss. No matter how you lose someone, it's never easy. Understanding suicide is harder because of the more tragic circumstances. Please know at this time, if you're feeling 'in need' reach out for help. Your friend was in a very dark place emotionally and didn't have the strength to reach out for help. Lifeline is always available for anyone needing support, guidance, understanding. Try to remember the good times you shared with him. Try to find comfort in the knowledge he is now reunited in death his wife.

Oh I am so sorry to hear this @PeppiPatty 😞
You sounds like such a caring friend to travel all the way to show your support.
How are you doing with the news of your friends death? Do you have some support from hubby?

Hope you are well,

Zahlia

Re: My dear .....good friend commits suicide.

Ohhh No @PeppiPattySuicide can leave such an awful hole in a family. I am glad you were able to travel and be there with them all. Memory of past times can help everyone at a time like that.

I am feeling close to a lady in my choir who lost her daughter as a teen. She is a really good person and had no idea her daughter was struggling ... then bang.

I hope you and BB are not thrown by it .. but continue progressing together. Glad your son is getting supprt from friends and doing what a young man has to do.

I will say a quite prayer for the family ... that they manage the grief better than mine did. Take care

warm regards Apple

Re: My dear .....good friend commits suicide.

I am also thinking of you @PeppiPatty and I hope you have some support

Suicide is such a terrible thing - and it does tear people apart - apart within themselves and apart from their families - my husband and I could not grieve together - and our marriage was over - it happens often

I wonder about suicide at times - I wonder - seriously wonder - why people go ahead - and yes - maybe they really cannot endure life any longer - and I think this was the case with my son and my cousin - both of them from the same strong family - (but I am not that strong myself - still not likely to be leaving any time soon)

So I wonder a lot - and I think I have positive reason for staying - I have survived so much - and even so - there are dark times -

So people can reach out for help - some get it - some don't - and sometimes they want to leave - and nothing can stop them

This probably doesn't help - but I am taking this chance to ask the questions I would so like an answer for - but you know - I think I have answered myself
