Hi Bimby2. Writing down, keeping journals about personal triumphs even 'down' times is certainly great therapy. When I was going through my own shit, I kept a journal. I found it the other day, haven't written in it for ages. Couldn't believe how 'black' I was. I found my black moods were made worse by interfering in-laws, and an emotionally unstable hubby, who HAD to keep in touch with them every second day. He is their eldest son and he would ring them and the drivel he spoke made me feel physically ill. At the end of each conversation, it was 'bye, love you both soooo much'. I'm rather surprised he didn't blow kisses down the phone. If I sound cynical and hard, I'm not, but I have never known grown people in their mid to late 60's to want their parents approval so much they have to call them every second day. If he didn't check in, he would apologise for 'forgetting'. I am neither jealous not bitter, believe me, I'm over those days, but keeping a journal did help. I can actually laugh at how angry and hurt I felt over this constant need for m/d. My parents both passed many years ago, but we were raised to be independent and, while I visited my folks occasionally, it wasn't out of them NEEDING me, it was to see how they were. I now record my personal growth and day to day activities with my kids whom I see once or twice a week. We don't phone often, we just take 'pot luck'.
