Hi...i dont really know who im writing to or how this really works..but i need help. Everyday is a struggle. I havent been diagnosed with anything..actually the doctors almost laugh at me. I am 35 yo male with wife and kids. I started having a weird feeling a number of years ago which felt like i was having a heart attack or stroke only to find there was nothing. This has now advanced to constantly tensing up no matter how i sit, lay or stand. I cant work because i cant be around people. Almost like im scared of dying. Ive lost count of times ive been having conversation with someone and mid sentence something comes over me like i cant talk and it feels like im going to pass out. Sometimes i get a big rush..like a hot feeling from head to toe.<br>This feeling happens everyday now. And not just once. Its constant. From the second i open my eyes to the second i fall asleep that night i feel like im dying. I feel sorry for my wife and kids...i am snappy at them often and they dont realise why..... a medication from the benzodiazepine family helps temporarily but sometimes doesnt work at all. So sometimes i resort to codeine or paracetamol which also sometimes takes the edge off but once again sometimes doesnt. But i cant keep living like this. I cant keep taking tablets to try feel NORMAL....I need help.

Re: Can anyone identify with my problem?
Do you think you're having a delayed reaction to all the stress, drinking etc? Our bodies can only cope with so much.
just a thought. 😊

Re: Can anyone identify with my problem?
Hi Shahid. What you're describing sounds like panic attacks. Do you feel as though you can't breath when you get these 'attacks'. Your heart beats so fast, it feels like it's going to 'pop' out of your chest, the blood rushes to your head etc. If these feelings are something like what you're experiencing I would say it is a form of panic. You mentioned you've performed on stage, that would've been an 'adrenalin rush' to give you the courage you needed at that time. If you haven't mentioned these other feelings you experience, stuttering, possible 'hot flushes' similar to feeling like the blood is rushing (like fainting), your Dr can't give you any treatment until he knows exactly what you are experiencing. When we go into panic mode most of the sensations you've described take place. The tests that were performed possibly wouldn't have helped because by the time the tests were done, everything had returned to normal. Your heart would've slowed down, blood stopped rushing, stuttering stopped. Ask your Dr to give you a 'stress' test, this will determine whether everything you've described is panic. Stress tests first determine your stress levels, blood pressure tests will then determine how stressed you get under pressure.

Re: Can anyone identify with my problem?
Hi @Shahid1. It sounds a bit like ptsd or severe anxiety. Has no doctor given you a diagnosis? That sounds shit - especially if they prescribed medication for you. Did they tell you what the medication was meant to do for you? What symptom was it meant to help. If you're still seeing your psychologist, ask them.

Re: Can anyone identify with my problem?
I don't blame you Shahid1. I feel the same about meds. I've only had bad experiences with them too. I know medication helps alot of people though, I wish they helped me too.

Re: Can anyone identify with my problem?
Hi utopia...ive just opened my eyes and its bad..ive rolled over to grab my phone and im in the horrors already. Yea look ive been diagnosed with a few things. All except PTS. Theyve said Anxiety, severe Anxiety, bipolar, and even epilepsy. But none of these are conclusive except the ANXIETY....Its always been a "I THINK YOU MIGHT".... Cause it seems my past doesnt sound traumatising enough for PTS. And tbh, i dont wanna be a martyr and blame my past. I mean there are significant events that have happened, but they are things that people might not believe could make somebody the way i am..... i dont know

Re: Can anyone identify with my problem?
Hi Shahid. I'm no Dr, but what from what you've described it doesn't sound like epilepsy or bipolar. Anxiety/PTSD would be more likely, but without seeing a Dr or submitting to a stress test, it would be impossible to make any sort of diagnosis. PTSD usually comes from serious trauma from past experiences. PTSD can affect anyone at any time, in different ways, might be worth following up. Anxiety couple with PTSD would be more likely, but, again, a Dr would be the best way of getting to the bottom of it. You possibly wouldn't need any medication, maybe a therapist who would encourage you to keep track of when the symptoms manifest, so at least you would have some way of knowing what to avoid, how to deal with the unavoidable. When these attacks occur have you tried deep breathing? Perhaps if you get into a situation that makes you uneasy, you could try deep breathing, slowly. Whenever I had to face ex in-laws (wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy), I would just about hyperventilate. I found deep breathing did ease the severity, but total avoidance was better.
