Sexual assult

Sexual assult

Hi everyone I'm new here and first time posting. I've been diagnosed with eupd since I was 16 and now I'm 23, recently (not the first time) I was sexually assaulted. I thought I've moved passed it but in the last few weeks I've experienced sleep paralysis where my abuser was standing over me and I had to re live the experience. Since then I've been getting flash backs of other people and expiences I couldn't remember, it all feels so real, the smell, the touch, the face it's all so familiar but I can't place any thing before the last guy that did this. I'm assuming it's because of my dissasosiative amnesia but I have no idea. I'm not coping and I have no idea when I'll get the flash back. I've also been plagued with nightmares far worse than is normal for me. I'm set up to see mental health professionals but I have a daughter and I live alone.... What do I do...

Hi @Bell4, firstly a warm welcome to the forums and thanks for introducing yourself. I'm moderating the forums this afternoon and I'm so sorry to hear that you've experienced a number of traumatic events in your life. It's great though that you're looking after yourself by you're reaching out for professional help to manage, what sounds like, some really distressing symptoms.

I thought it might be helpful, whilst you're waiting for your first appointment, to list some services that offer online and phone support:

Lifeline - 13 11 14

Suicide Call Back Service - 1300 659 467

SANE Help Centre - 1800 18 7263

Blue Knot Foundation - 1300 657 380

Again, it's great to have you as part of the forum community and feel free to ask the SANE forum team or the members if you need help with how to use the forum. You might like to check out the Guidelines as they can be a pretty useful in understanding how it all works https://saneforums.org/t5/help/faqpage#community-guidelines. Take care and go gently.

Heya,

I feel for you!!! so much!!

I wondered if writing down everything you remember - even the nightmares - would help getting details 'out' of your mind? or even doing a verbal recording on your phone/computer?

Do you use positive music before you sleep?

I found EMDR therapy helpful in processing my memories of that kind of abuse.

Thinking of you,

Daisies

Thankyou I will give them another look, most help lines I have called haven't helped very much for me not from lack of trying from myself or the operators though

What's edmr? I never thought of writing it down 😅 thankyou. I get so overwhelmed I don't think but I'll try writing everything I can down, was a bit surprising as my memory is so bad I don't remember huge chunks of my life so having all these things come up has been so stressful because it wasn't gradual at all
