Schizophrenia/hearing voices

Schizophrenia/hearing voices

When you try to stop the voices in your head, do you receive violent physical/psychic attack on your body (eg. dizziness/fainting spell, sharp needles piercing through your body or seizures)?

Do you also hear voices from people you know when they are not there and later they would tell you the exact same thing in person or via email? These are personal details that I shouldn't have known initally, not just random information.

Do you have recurring dreams/nightmares that come true?

I am yet to be diagnosed, but just trying to figure out what when wrong. If you experienced something similar, please share your story.

Much appreciated!

Well I am glad that some of your family members managed to overcome the illness.

We all should be well too in time! I remind myself daily not to hear voices, hope you all will have a peaceful mind as well!

Thank you all for the contributions! 🙂

If there are a few roads to Rome there are probably a few roads through each individual psyche. Find your path. @Lilaca

Cheers

I am in VIC. Thank you for the link, it's great that he overcame his illness and went on to be a mental health nurse.

It reminds me of an old friend who is a nurse working in a psych ward. That was years before I was engulfed in this drama. It wasn't an easy job at all..he had to stay home for 3 months as one of the patients broke his pinkie finger.

I was still bubbly and healthy back then too. 🙂

Hope we all can get over this soon!

Hope we can too. @Lilaca Step by step.

Thought of you when read this approach to voices. It was developed in The Netherlands, which has a well developed sense of trauma protocols, probably from the war.

I tried to get into MH nursing when I was about 19, but they thought I would be triggered. A friend who worked in the field, said they probably did not want me to see what really happens.

Thank you for the link to the paper. It seems like deep reading. 😉

I agree, MH nurses have to deal with lots of aggravated patients whom even the male health professionals would have issues dealing.

A surgeon had suffered from multiple stabs from a MH patient in a hospital close to where my friend worked.

I used to volunteer for a women's organisation going rounds on home visits for female refugees, most of whom suffered PTSD from war torn countries and a string of illnesses/injuries as well as DV. The ladies were of middle eastern origin and mostly gentle and soft spoken. Perhaps such role would suit you better?

I was still healthy back when I was volunteering for this. I missed those days!

Get better soon! 🙂
