Boredom

Boredom

Hi,
I feel like living is pointless. I was a professional with a good job and house. Tried to do it all in my 20's. Now I'm in my 40's with no job, no house and no money. My life is so empty, I am bored with life. I am scared of the future. My days are so long. Will it get any better??

Re: Boredom

Hi @Cuddlepie,

I am similar age and my life experiences are the same as you now with the exception that I haven't had a career or my life together yet. I did however have a family and house and some resemblance of a life. I agree with the day's being long. Today I am optimistic that I can find some kind of life but that changes from day to day depending on my mood. Welcome to the forums. I hope others share their experiences too with you. Take care😊

Re: Boredom

Thank you for your reply. It's good to know I'm not the only one feeling this way. There must be so many people feeling this way. I use to be such an active person. Now I do nothing

Re: Boredom

Do you have a counsellor or anyone you see for help with your current situation @Cuddlepie.

Sorry if that was personal. I need mine to get through and I'm hoping you have someone to.😊💜

Re: Boredom

@Cuddlepie. What has you down at the moment. What is the main problem. Is it a loss of relationship? Or a loss of house? Or is it loss of your job? Or is it the frustration of MI

Re: Boredom

No.
I've had counsellors in the past and they made me worse.

Re: Boredom

Hi. Any idea when and what caused you to feel so down. Did something trigger it?
Hope you don't mind me asking. Jusy trying to see if I can say something helpful. 😊
I've been there, I just wanted to sleep all day and cry.
Slowly I'm getting better.

Re: Boredom

Hi @Cuddlepie

Welcome to the Forums.

If I'm understanding your situation correctly, you have lost a lot of big elemtns in your life and you feel like you don't have much left - which is leaving you bored and feeling useless.

I'm sorry to hear a counsellor didn't work. I think many people here would agree that it's really hard finding a professional (psychologist or psychiatrist) to connect with, but find it to be really worth it when they find someone who works for them and what they need to move forward.

In order to get some feedback and support from members, it might be useful to them & you if you could elaborate on what you like support with.

If you're looking to just to chat and connect with others on a social level on here, you might want to check out Night Shift or just having a look through Enjoying time with others, for a discussion that speaks to you.

Great to 'meet' you & hope to continue to see you around the place.

Re: Boredom

@Cuddlepie. I can relate to feeling worse when having therapy. That's happened to me a nbr of times. Some therapists I've seen -appeared to have their own agenda. They want to focus on one thing -that you don't feel is relevant at the time. I've been to a few over the years. I had a great one last year - but then he retired. Bugger. Lucky for me I got another good one and I'm feeling better than I have in a long time.
Unfortunately you haven't just suffered one severe stress event. You have suffered a few. All at once or one after the other - I'm not sure. But I do think it's a hell of a lot to manage on your own.
What about friends? People who can be there for you. Professionals can also help with these feelings you are having.
Do you have a routine? Waking sleeping chores? Some type of routine helps fill the time. What about going for walks or a bike ride? Volunteering can help fill your days and get you out and about and meeting people.
