I'm claustrophobic

I'm claustrophobic

I'm in South Africa n been recently struggling to cope when travelling in a plane or bus. I constantly develop a fear of anxiety in enclosed spaces. I can't cope. I'm feeling helpless. How do I cope with such feeling? I'm travelling with a bus today from 9am to 9pm. Please help

Speaking of crowds. Shops were really busy and noisy today. So good to be home. Feel uptight and sore back etc from tension. Coffee and a relax will fix that.
Oh to be free from tension. 😊
@Decadian
Had late lunch out as well, music and everything is so noisy everywhere, no wonder people feel stressed. I love my home. ❤🏡

Hi @Former-Member

Yes - I have been on holidays - 4 nights in Canberra - and it was fantastic

It's amazing how things that bother me at home are not on the radar when I am away - I hate lifts and escalators - but I have been using both -

On a plane I ask for a window seat - we are just as trapped where ever we sit so I feel better if I can look at the wing and I have "an horizon" which keeps me from feeling dizzy - and I take something for travel sickness anyway - regardless - I have been horribly sea sick

Somewhere I read something about closed environments - being like prisons - because you can't just leave and there are rules and other people to consider - planes and ships and other public transport, class rooms, hospitals - general too I think

For me planes are fine - but hospitals - that is for general medical reasons - freak me past the point of sense - I can't bear it - I really feel as if I am in prison - I will put up with a lot of pain at home - which they really don't treat in the ED - and I can walk out of there

But noisy music - that is a major stressor - I hate it in shops - it makes me leave without buying anything - when I can't think past the noise - I find that a bad time to make a purchase

But I certainly understand your sitting on the aisle - just getting out of plane with people getting overhead luggage is a pain - in fact - people milling about and uncontrolled children really make me feel very unfriendly -

So glad to hear that you enjoyed your holiday @Decadian 😀

I understand about the noisy kids, haha!
I used to work with children. They were more disciplined back then.
