Tough Times

Tough Times

I thought I'd open up this discussion for anyone going through a rough time at the moment and want to get some extra support.
I am struggling a lot at the moment dealing with a range of things. One thing a struggle with is Anxiety. This is something I deal with everyday. I wake up with it every morning and fall asleep (when I sleep) with it every night. Some days are worse than other days. Distractions play a big part in coping with it daily. At the moment being stuck at home schooling my kids is my biggest distraction. It helps most of the time however sometimes it can be a real struggle to stay present and calm. We as a family try to go for a walk everyday. We take our family dog with us. Another distraction for me is cooking but this can be a challenge as I struggle with motivating myself but when I get into it I create some nice things. Today my 8year old son and I made oat based banana and chic chip muffins. 😋😋

I hope everyone's day has been a good day filled with self care and motivation.

Re: Tough Times

Yes @Lee82, you need to be honest with your mental health team. It doesn't always mean you end up in hospital. Sometimes you actually stay out, and your community support system is shored up (professionals that is). If a medication is making you ill, then there are lots of other ones to try. And sometimes it takes a combinations of certain meds like antidepressants and mood stabilisers to to help even out your mood swings, anxieties and depression. I have treatment resistant depression so it took a long time to get the right combination for me. I was on a couple of tablets daily for about a year or so. But I felt blunted in my emotions so I gradually came off them. It means though I have to work really hard some days to manage my emotions, but I am not doing too badly. I have had meltdowns, but I get back up again after. It is a really personal choice though Lee, but try to trust people who are trying to help.

Re: Tough Times

Thanks for the advice @Sans911 . Everyone seems to have the same idea. I see my psych on Tuesday so I will let everyone know if I was able to bring it up with her or not. Still feel unsure. The problem is I think I am doing worse now than I was when I went Into hospital the first time I have just gotten better at hiding it from everyone. My psych keeps pushing me to go to hospital as it is with this added news I fear she will take matters into her own hands.

As a kid I loved colouring and drawing. I also loved material arts. As an adult I'm not so sure anymore.

Re: Tough Times

Nobody likes going to hospital @Lee82 for mental health problems or physical health problems. Goodness knows I've had my fair share of admissions over the last few years.

But sometimes it helps to look at a hospital stay as a reset. A chance to take a break, and let others take care of you. There's often activities that you can get involved in like cooking, art, walks. I'm not trying to sell it too but I just want you to know that it isn't always awful.
