Tough Times

Tough Times

I thought I'd open up this discussion for anyone going through a rough time at the moment and want to get some extra support.
I am struggling a lot at the moment dealing with a range of things. One thing a struggle with is Anxiety. This is something I deal with everyday. I wake up with it every morning and fall asleep (when I sleep) with it every night. Some days are worse than other days. Distractions play a big part in coping with it daily. At the moment being stuck at home schooling my kids is my biggest distraction. It helps most of the time however sometimes it can be a real struggle to stay present and calm. We as a family try to go for a walk everyday. We take our family dog with us. Another distraction for me is cooking but this can be a challenge as I struggle with motivating myself but when I get into it I create some nice things. Today my 8year old son and I made oat based banana and chic chip muffins. 😋😋

I hope everyone's day has been a good day filled with self care and motivation.

Re: Tough Times

Had some dinner also @Former-Member - so going to rest for a little longer then see how I feel. I may need to do some of it in the morning - at least then I will be able to concentrate better ...very tired tonight so rest and sleep might be best. What are you up to tonight?

Re: Tough Times

What was on your menu for dinner @Zoe7 I am trying to eat shepherds pie. I must have married exh2 for potato mashing skills🤣 he does a great job. I am trying to behave myself and not move from my couch. Trying to decide what movie to put on right now. 💖

Re: Tough Times

Pork chops and steamed veggies @Former-Member - quick and easy ...and I do love my veggies I haven't had Shepherd's pie for years - my Nan used to make it and it was awesome ...but anything my Nan cooked was amazing. My Mum and sister got her cooking skills - I like plainer food especially my veggies. If it doesn't have carrot in it then it is not real food lol

Behaving yourself is good - keep trying lol I am giving up on work now - can't concentrate so am going to have my meds and settle in for the night as soon as I feed my fur babies their night biscuits - then they will sleep also. The washing up can wait also - it aint going anywhere

Re: Tough Times

My grandma was the same, she always seemed to make something everyone would eat even though her grandkids where fussy as hell😂 she never wrote anything down so no one has been able re create her food😞 I remember walking into a clients home one Christmas and burst into tears because they where making Christmas cake and it smelled exactly the way grandma's house did when she was baking. I think it was the first Christmas without her. Both her and granddad have been gone a long time now but Christmas is just not the same without them.

I hope your fur babies enjoy their biscuits and sleep all not. My kitty likes to play tag with the walls around two every morning.

@Zoe7 , I hope you have a peaceful night my friend 💖

Re: Tough Times

Yeah my Nan was the same @Former-Member She would also make desserts for everyone then an apple pie for me as I don't eat many desserts. She made the best apple pie or apple crumble and I would more often than not have it all to myself She also made the best gravy with our Sunday roasts - those were the great days.

My grandparents have been gone for a long time too but I still miss them so much - I spent a fair chunk of my life with them so I didn't have to be at home if I could help it. Our high school was really close so I stayed a lot during the week and went to school from there. When I didn't stay during the week I would be there most weekends. Those were my happy days so I so get how those memories hit hard Hon

Luckily my fur babies sleep throughout the night - no 2am antics here but your cat sounds super cute ....annoying but cute 😺

Hey @Lee82 @Former-Member @Purplerain @outlander @Zoe7

Nice to hear about grandmothers ... and food.

I hope you are all doing as well as possible.

Lee I just had a Son day, which means cooking, washing, driving etc. Good to see how he is managing in Covid times.

Re: Tough Times

Still not 100% here @Appleblossom but getting through the days. Definitely looking forward to the weekend so I can rest up some more and hopefully shake this sickness completely.

Great that you had a son day Apple. How are you coping with the isolation yourself?

Re: Tough Times

I love my Son days, he doesn't come over much because of Covid as I am high risk. God help me when he brings his washing over next, I dread to think how big his pile will be or maybe he will surprise me and will have learnt to use a washing machine 😂 @Appleblossom , glad you had a good day my friend.

This is my Ariel, cute but psycho 😂 @Zoe7
