Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Good luck with tomorrow's inspection @NatureLover

My delivery came late in the day. I did 3 hours' cleaning and tidying today.

Apparently I'll have a new home help on Friday, and they've cut the time.

Tomorrow I'll try to do some gardening.

Thanks, @Dimity .

I've been awake since before 3am, and it's now 4.20am. Anxious about inspection.

Well done on doing 3 hours of tidying and cleaning!

I'm glad you won't have that critical home help any more! But that's not good that they've cut the time, sorry to hear.

Hi again @Dimity , I'm sitting here all ready for the inspection! The house looks great. I hope I pass.

I did 6 hours and 20 minutes yesterday, and about 2 hours this morning. Now there's nothing to do except wait, as I don't want to muck the house up. After the inspection I will have to go to the supermarket, as I've been putting that off due to lack of time. The inspection is between 10am and 3pm.

I hope you feel OK today and get to do some gardening despite the showers...

Well done @NatureLover, that was a marathon effort. You'll be tired, especially after the sleepless night. I hope the agent comes soon so you don't have the anxiety of waiting.

I've had a slow start (as usual) and have just booked for brunch with family Saturday. The negotiations and apprehension aren't ideal but hopefully it will work out.

Oh gosh - you had to negotiate just to book brunch? @Dimity

Agent has been - it took 2 minutes. Just consisted of her taking photos of absolutely everything. Very invasive. Plus she touched my large bed blanket so now I have to wash and dry it before tonight! 😣

Thank goodness that's over @NatureLover . I hope you can get the blanket dry.

I was repulsed when the NBN technician touched my bedding (the sockets were behind the bedhead).

Enjoy your shopping. Hope you don't splurge on things to fill the newfound space.

Haha, handy warning @Dimity (not to splurge)!

What did you do? Did you wash your bedding?

Occasionally I put a large sheet over my bed to protect the bedding, but I didn't this time as I didn't want to offend her.

Good morning @Dimity , how are you doing this morning?

It's very weird waking up to an almost perfect house! I don't know what to do with myself! 😄

I say almost perfect as there's work I could do on papers which are stacked on shelves. I was considering going in to work today to try to catch up a bit, but I know back-to-back days are probably too much for me. So I might go in on Saturday instead.

I'm also going to try to keep the place neat for as long as I can. Usually it gets messy again after about a week. 😣

When do you see your counsellor next?

And will you investigate another gardener to get the heavy work done (the trees removed)?

Good luck today with whatever tasks you aim for...

It's good you achieved what you wanted in the house @NatureLover .Near perfect! Amazing.

My mood has plummeted. The state of the world and my corner of it aren't in good shape, but that's been the case for a long time, so I'm not sure why. The cat's needy too. I think I'm seeing the therapist next week.

The garden's become complicated. One of the family insists on helping as part of a mutual help deal, but neither of us is really up to it.

I think I see the physio next week too.

A neighbour has asked me to help with a Centrelink medical form but I'm reluctant to get involved. A few years ago someone asked me to help with a DSP application but gave odd answers and I had to sign off as having helped with it . I heard he was knocked back.

Yes, it's very strange, @Dimity. And the weird thing is that it's not entirely comfortable having a perfectly neat house! I feel a bit discombobulated! I think because it's not my norm? But of course I have 35 boxes of mess in the shed.

I'm sorry your mood has plummeted, my friend 😥 I read your Winter Solstice post 😥

With the mutual help deal with your family member, are you required to go there and help them?

I am sending wishes for your mood and for things to improve for you 🤞
